Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I figured he'd want me... can you bring me back to wherever he is? I don't have the materials; he wanted me to make an alloy out of yours."

 

"O-Oh, o-ok." The water guardian says, taking out a black crystal. She throws it on the ground, causing it to shatter into multiple pieces. A dark aura surrounds the pieces, and a black fog emanates from them, forming a portal.

 

Lidnis offers the guardian a hand, walking through.

 

The water guardian takes it and follows.

The pair soon find themselves in the dauntingly large throne room. Guards stand sternly either side of the pair of thrones, and Shadow Stephanie and I sit in them; we make the room look rather normal in comparison. The water guardian immediately falls to the ground in a bow.

"Ah, excellent, you've returned. Please escort Lidnis to the robotics lab." My voice booms. The water guardian nods silently, leading Lidnis toward the exit.

 

Lidnis drops a blue crystal prism as she heads out.

"So, what all is in this robotics lab?"

 

A guard quickly grabs the prism.


"U-U-Uhm, I think it's w-where they made E-Eve." The water guardian says, shaking nervously as she walks toward the elevator.

 

The crystal has some kind of innate chronological magic.


Lidnis silently follows, leaving another prism.

 

The guard studies it closely, curious yet wary, turning it in his hands.


The water guardian shakily walks into the elevator, reaching for a dial.

"D-Dammit, what was the c-combination..." The water guardian says to herself, turning the dials.

 

Cecil turns to Xephyr. "No? That's a random question out of the blue."

Is the random voice in her head?

 

It seems to be a lock of sorts, like a safe protected by a tiny chronobarrier that you can hold.


Lidnis thinks for a moment, peers into her staff, then turns a few incorrect dials.
"This seems to be what the king used earlier."

Yes, the voice is in her head.
"The shopkeep is speaking to you. They're a spirit."

"Welcome to my humble shop. Can I interest you in any of my wares?"

 

"Uhh...I just wanted to see the people living here."

*To the random voice in her head* "Hello?"

 

"Well, there are some you can't see, too." Xephyr says happily.

"Hi. I guess you can't see spirits? You're at my shop, miss. Care to buy anything?"

 

"I don't think I can. I left everything behind in, what used to be Brisingr."

 

"Oh, it's okay! If you find a robe you like, you can have it as a gift! It's good to know that not all humans from Brisingr have died." The spirit says.

 

"Thank you...By the way, did anyone else escaped Brisingr?"

 

"I looked around a bit, but not many did. There are a few stuck on floating islands, and mages are trying to use dragons to evacuate them. Where they go next is anyone's guess."

 

Cecil sighs. "It's a shame what happened."

She grabs a red robe and leaves the marketplace.

 

Xephyr races to catch up.
"Sorry, we're kind of all that's left in terms of salvageable infrastructure."

 

"So...Is there any more places? I don't really want to stand near the corpses."

 

"Nope. Lava and magma is pretty much it at this point."
