Wynncraft With Scammers [2016 Q4]

Hi, I'm Obcinerate, /members/obcinerate.17678/
I had issues with 2 step auth and I couldn't log in, and decided to make a new account.

ISSUE: There are hackers / scammers on the server that are trying to steal minecraft logins, the email and passwords to minecraft/mojang accounts. They would tell you that you can get a "free rank" or "cape" in a private message ingame and give you a "website link." Those links are malicious and are scams. They look exactly like "Minecraft.net" but they are copied to look exactly the same.

This person decided to send me a pm. I checked out the link and it's a scam, and he has been reported and banned from Wynncraft (the link has also been removed from WIX hosting)

My Guild leader has fallen into one of these scams and has been hacked. Luckily, our guild hasn't been deleted, but his bank got cleared, class inventories, and lost a lot of items.... @Chownick

This is more of a PSA to not click these links. If it seems too good to be true, it's more likely to be fake.

Wynncraft should do something about it since it's becoming popular and I'm pretty sure that more and more people has been hacked.

Yeah I saw, but Wynncraft needs to do something in general.

Blocking links in PM's would be good, but would impact everyone :(

I think It was prezeul who said this situation isn't that serious yet and they don't need to be sticky as they are attempting to fix this problem.

In my opinion, it's getting out of control.

 

Actually, we have control of the situation so dont worry.

As to links, minecraft has its own warning when you click a link. Its the fault of the person if you ignore that.

We will always want players to be aware of potential dangers, but removing links from the game just because of this is way too far.

 

I never thought I'd see the day that scammers come to Wynncraft

Basically when people see the word "Free" written anywhere they'll definitely click the link

 

Maybe it has to do with being #200 something on minecraftservers, scammers see a popular server and are going to take advantage of such. Probably happens a lot on mineplex and hypixel.

What we could use is either a player made chat veiwing team ragni-nemrekt to help the new guys and/or a reminder message played like entering a dungeon at the end of the tutorial.

I think this originated because we have people voting for wynncraft which puts us in the spotlight of "oh let's go hack people"

 

There have always been scammers m8.

 

Popular servers draw people, some will be lacking in logic and intelligence will be unaware of possible scamming, and where people go, scammers and hackers follow...

Anyone want to post a suggestion for a reminder message to be careful of scammers? I would, but am at school and too lazy.

I don't think that was on purpose, guilds are so messed up right now.

 

What I am wondering is were are the items going to? As we all know Inventory space is very limited, so I am wondering if the are deleting all the items of those they hack?

 

Depends how mean the hackers are / how stupid. I heard one guy was caught auctioning off someone's stuff
