Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"A chronomancer named Lidnis, I think." Xephyr says, quickly ushering you inside.
"The heat's getting to me." She utters, pained.

"More like buddies, but hell if I know everything you do about mechas."

 

"Well, what do they want?" I ask.

 

"Eve didn't want me watching as close as I usually do with your group, so I didn't catch everything. You'd have to ask them."

 

"Wait, what do you mean 'As close as you usually do'?" I ask.

 

"I keep my distance from Eve by her request. I usually monitor others more closely."

 

"...Alright. I'll go see them." I say, sketpical.

I appear next to Iruk.

"Hey. I heard you and Eve were looking for me." I say.

 

Iruk pauses, glancing around for Eve.
"Shit, this is awkward..."

 

"Feeling the reds for her, hmm?" I say casually, running Shadow Katana across my hand before looking at Iruk's reflection in it's dark purple blade.

 

"W-what?! A-a-are you k-KIDDING ME?! SHE MAKES ME WANT TO OFF MYSELF!" Iruk shouts, flustered.

 

"Hahahahahahahaha, that's the best reaction yet!" I say, laughing my head off, "Ahaha, s-so, heh, why are you suicidal around her? If anything she's trying to prevent your death."

 

"She's superior to me in every way. I don't know why she thinks I'm still relevant in any sense of the word." Iruk groans.

 

"Well, maybe you just need an upgrade? I and my team created her, I could have them upgrade you too." I say.

 

Iruk pauses, sighs heavily, then groans.
"Eve was lying about not being able to reach you, wasn't she?"

 

"Not used to it?" Cecil smiles, and went in the city.

 

"No, she can't exactly reach me well, especially not cross-dimensionally without help." I say.

 

"No. Once you see inside the city, by what Ihra told me, you'll see what happens if my blood rises above freezing temperature." Xephyr said, her scale color drained slightly as the air around you slowly becomes suffocatingly hot until she slams the entry door shut behind you.

"Yes, she mentioned that you may be able to help me in the upgrade department."

 

"Well, I don't exactly have a robot army waiting in the wings, but I'm sure my team could study you and create some parts to upgrade you with." I say.

 

She starts to look around.

 

"Urgh... I'd rather have Ruby just forcefeed my schematics into your people's memories." Iruk grunts, suddenly defiant.

It's a grim scene, but things seem to be starting to improve. Corpses line the streets, some seeming to have died in worse ways than others. There's a marketplace and a few people working on a farm, but other than that most of the city is empty and quiet.

 

"This is only going to work if you want it to, you know." I say.
