"Or I could try to become friends with him." Eve says on a lighter note.

 

"I don't think Rineth would allow that. Might I remind you Iruk is literally hiding IN him."

 

Eve cringes.

"Oh god why..." Eve mutters.

 

"Because he knows you won't just barge in there. He's not dumb, and he's hiding his shame from you."

 

"But...what's there to be ashamed of?" Eve asks.

 

"Jealousy. He thinks he looks like scrap next to you... and he's not completely wrong."

 

"True, but isn't that also true with everyone else? Some people are born to rich families and live wonderful lives, while others are born poor and might not even survive birth. That doesn't change the fact we're all technically the same, just some people are better off than others. Just because you might not have the fanciest parts doesn't mean you lack the ability to do something great!" Eve says.

 

"He only knows how to kill. That's all he was built for. He defied his builder's orders, so he thinks he's useless; a killbot that doesn't want to kill."

 

"So he can be a killbot who does something great!" Eve says happily.

 

"Like...?" Ruby asks. "His skills include killing, stabbing, dueling, and apparently exploiting weaknesses of those he interacts with, namely hiding where you won't go."

 

"He could be a mercenary or a bodyguard?" Eve suggests.

 

"He doesn't want to kill or hurt anyone. I guess maybe he'd settle for that."

 

"He'd be killing for good people! Like me!" Eve says happily.

 

Ruby rolls her eyes.
"Debatable, but what'd he do in his time off?"

 

"Draw?" Eve asks.

 

"He can't make micromivements that let him draw. He's built strictly for combat, melee only. I applaud your optimism, though."

 

"Wood carving?" Eve asks.

 

"Maybe. Try asking him sometime."

 

"She can do that?" She whispers to Xephyr.

 

"Short range blink. Most of us can."
