Assassin/Ninja Help Old Player Who Wants To Come Back - Recommendations?

Last time I was at all active on this server, Gavel was being hyped and everyone was joking about how it'll never come out.

Everything looks fantastic compared to what I remember, but I'm kind of intimidated by this new-fangled build system. I want to play an assassin from scratch, not as a glass cannon but still with a decent amount of damage output, what should I go for?

Please don't tell me what element to focus on without including what stat it's tied to.

 

Assassin works well with air (agility) though it will be somewhat glassy, but fast
Can also use thunder (dexterity) the damage output of thunder can be very random, eg can do very high damage or very low

But really, element is up to you
They all work well

 

I wouldn't recommend wasting time making low level builds as you will quickly level away from it.

Just try to use armor / accessories that synergizes with your weapons until you reach higher levels where you can focus on prober builds.

anyways, I'd say the best combo in terms of Tanky DPS is Thunder-Fire, but be aware that you won't be as fast. The typical assassin comboes are thunder-air or water-air, as the walk speed is seriously useful. However, those have somewhat low health so

Earth tends to be high melee damage and burst damage, but with low attack speed and spell damage

Thunder tends to be decent melee and spell damage with high attack speed and sustained damage

Water tends to be high spell damage and mana regen, with average attack speed and low melee damage

Fire tends to give high health and health regen, but lower damage and attack speed

Air gives walk speed. lots, and lots of walk speed, but lower health

 

For reference
Fire = Defence
Thunder = Dexterity
Water = Intelligence
Air = Agility
Earth = Strength

And I would personally recommend using a Thunder/Water/Air build
You do very good damage with a good setup, while still having ~10k hp if you're able to get, and use, some of the pieces.
So, level 100 build I'd suggest for this

Helm: Cumulonimbus / Spectre - Cumul has less hp, but does more damage. Spectre has more hp, as well as life and mana steal. Entirely your choice
Chest: Boreal-Patterned Chestpalte - In my opinion this is by far the best chestplate to use for this build, however it requires you having completed "The Hive" quest, which is hard-ish
Legs: Vaward / Crystal - Vaward has more hp and skill points, Crystal has mana regen. Entirely personal preference
Boots: Memento / Capricorn - Memento has more spell damage and mana regen, Capricorn has more hp, as well as mana steal. Again, up to you

Rings: Raging Wind / Stratus x2 - Raging Wind has good walk speed and AGI boosts, quest reward from "Beyond the Grave." Stratus less walk speed and AGI but it has mana steal.
Bracelet: Contrail - Walk speed and AGI boosts, I personally don't know of any others you could use
Necklace: Royal Stormy Necklace / Ehwaz - Honestly just use Royal Stormy, you can buy it with the reward from Wynnex D, and it's a great fit for this build.

 

Well, if you want something cheap, get a wall breaker build.
