So How Have Powders Been Treating Y'all?

Sooo, which special does the most raw damage?

 

Good Question.

Most of them either don't directly cause damage or the damage depends on situation as far as I can tell.

The Chain Lightening Effect does 250% of your usual damage in Thunder damage, but can hit 0-9 targets depending if there are than many targets present and close enough to each other. So if you hit a good crowd, it can add up. I have found it very useful to hop up to a place the horde can't climb to. If they are melee types, they will clump up below you and you just hold down the shift and start rapid firing. As soon as it is charged it goes off on the next shot. I'm fuzzy on the damage calculation, but it seems to do at least the same as taking a single melee hit from my weapon. Another nice ability with a bow is that you can use it like a bomb arrow, where a near miss still sets off the effect and the chain lightening will hit the closest target in range and bounce from mob to mob as usual.

The Wind Prison effect traps the target(s) which then is supposed to give a 150% bonus to the follow-up attack. No direct damage, but adds a little more damage if they get hit while under the special's influence.

The Curse effect is supposed to nerf the target(s) defenses for a couple seconds. Folks talk like 2 or 3 seconds is super short, but in the middle of a fight, a couple seconds feels much longer than you'd think... Especially if you're in the midst of a panic, such as I usually am. This is supposed to greatly increase the damage you dish out to them during that time. A Curse Arrow followed by a couple Bomb Arrows would be pretty helpful for shortening the time needed to kill harder targets like Dungeon or altar bosses. This effect sounds like a very useful utility for parties as you can set up a target for your warrior buddies to charge in and destroy.

The Quake and Courage effects sound really nice for Warriors and Assassins who have to get in close to have all their fun.

Quake does damage and stuns the swarm piling in to you. But I have no idea how much damage it does.

Courage is going to be best utilized in the same situation, but for when you've joined up with a party. Letting all those charging in with you to get a damage boost. I don't know what the damage boost is, but I suspect that the resulting effect is heavily influenced by the usual amount of damage those effected can dish out.

Courage is the most powerful powder special imo, as if you keep using Melee attacks you can keep it on forever. It also does damage to those near you when you use it and it's basically a double to all damage.

Curse is also pretty strong, but better against single target bosses. Curse is really amazing if you can get a party to full mana, curse somebody, and then burn all of your mana. I've seen orange wybel's (lv 140 boss altar) Last form die in 10 seconds to 3 people using curse + courage + good assassin build.

Wind prison is really good at dealing with enemies that either hurt you a ton, are super fast, or are way over your level. It's great to hit things into lava of the void with.

Quake is the most damaging ability, especially when you get swarmed. It kind of knocks enemy's up a little bit do they can't wove towards you as fast, making it decent to escape with. The biggest issue is that earth powder likes to eat up all of your neutral damage.

Chain Lightning has INSANE RANGE. It's Damage is basically a free spin attack against anything it hits. It's great for assasains that lack a real ranged spell.

In total, I would say don't make a build around a powder, instead master the ability that fits your build

 

I've made bank from powders.

 

Curse is good, I use it sometimes
Courage is amazing and I wish I had started using it sooner
Wind Prison is a godsend for air builds with low health (aka my main class)
Earthquake I haven't used yet
Chain Lightning... why does it suck so much...

So far, I like courage the best; it's frankly OP and can snowball insanely fast with kill streak and spin attack. Here are some problems I've found:
Upgrading chain lightning doesn't seem to boost the amount of chains it creates;it actually seems random
Wind prison doesn't actually seem to boost damage at ALL.
The curse particles last after the mob dies
Quake's stun is barely noticable

It has been treating me great! Well for now it is.

 

I have find all them pretty disappointing. OR at least, the ones I've tried.

I have not found a difference with Courage, so I changed to Curse, and there was quite the difference.

I have also used chain lightning and I like it the most because you actually see it pretty well. (I like when you see the effects clearly, okay) I want to try Wind Prison, it seems cool but a lot of people are disappointed with it too.
