So I usually present all the facts first then tell you my point in a reverse-formatted attempt to change your point of view and give a dramatic twist/ending, but to hell with that here.

The problem with Corkus, other than the whole trying to be a province thing, is their Ecology. They are destroying the environment of the island, polluting and killing it, and the environment is NOT happy.

Where am I getting this from? Well, lets begin!

#1: Island Biomes

So unlike other places where there is a diverse range of biomes, the island of Corkus really has only 2 biomes, the forest and the caves. The caves don't really count as they seem to only be minor and don't hold very much plant life.

The forest on the other hand covers the whole Island, save for the shoreline. Grian makes a very specific point of how the Forest forms. Unlike other forests which start and end abruptly, the forest on Corkus is a VERY gradual change, most likely due to very little intervention of other dominant Organisms before the Corkians arrived and started cutting trees to build their factories.

This means under the rule of the Avos the environment had no threat and, if sentient and willing to retaliate, the environment would have every right and reason to attack the Corkians back.

#2: Factories and Waste

Other than just the single biome being undisturbed until cut by the Corkians, there is another thing the Corkians have been doing. With their big factories and tons of machines, they have to develop A LOT of waste, right? This waste would pollute the environment.

But do we ever see any sort of pollution in Corkus? Actually, yes. The junk piles! In Grian's livestream, he points out heaps of metal and gears around the island, calling them "junk heaps" (or something like that). He also states several times that the junk heaps would have an impact on the island's story.

Perhaps the Corkians, having no other way to get rid of their junk, just dumped them around the island making these heaps. These heaps are a type of pollution or environmental damage to the Island, with their rust and chemicals leeching into the soil and plantlife.

The island's environment would have every reason to get upset over these piles of metal laying around!

#3: Avos

But all these things assume the environment is alive and sentient. How does that work? Well, let me introduce you to the Avos, original inhabitants of Corkus. We do not know very much about them other than they are not as advanced as the Corkians.

Grian tells us they they were very peaceful until the Fire Nation Corkians attacked. Grian also noted that they are VERY in-tune with nature. So what does this mean?

This is the current profile pic (in case he changes it) of a moderator who will not be named for the sake of keeping his privacy. However, he changed to the profile pic right after Grian's livestream and posted this profile post:

"I'm not saying what species that is, but it's definitely a form of plant life. @SPYROHAWK"

Firstly, this was clearly an invitation to solve the puzzle. Secondly, when I guess Avos, he liked it. This may not mean I am right, but it clearly is a sign of awknoledgement.

So what if that actually IS an Avos? Well, that would mean that the Avos are a type of sentient plant. Which is even furthered by the fact that they are in tune with nature.

Wouldn't nature-loving plant-people get supper pissed if newcomers came to their island and started killing and polluting the environment?

So yeah. That's my theory. The Corkian plague to the environment is the issue here, and the Avos are becoming Aggressive as the environment's response.

I could be 100% wrong, but that's my theory.

Honestly I was super pissed that Corkus became real but after the Livestream I started to grow really fond of it (I love steampunk). Still can't belive I managed to make a theory from it.

 

Tell me Spyro, did you ever see yourself making a thread called "Corkus theory" and being serious with it? I didn't, and you didn't, but now look at us.

Corkus doesn't really fit in when its made fun of and became a meme. Well i cant argue at least its new content

Looking at the meaning behind the name Avos it's said that Avos is shortening of the title Pireki Avot which is a tractate of a Jewish Talmud (Jewish texts). The title Pireki Avot when translated into English from Hebrew is called Chapters of the Fathers, and it contains ethical teachings and maxims from a certain period. But the main is that due to its contents it has also been called 'Ethics of the Fathers'. I think this is really cool as there are many different ways we can interpret this title into how it can fit this race of people. As Spyro said in his post about the Avos being well tuned with nature, maybe that's the ethics they are following. Or well this one is a stretch but in relation to the part about the father we can also think of the Avos as possible ancestors of some races, such as the elves since they are customarily well tuned with nature as well.

One other point as well is that the Avos could be a physical representation of the ethics appointed by the father (god in this case). So it may be possible that the Avos are elemental beings as just being well tuned to nature isn't only limited to earth. Of course this last idea is the biggest stretch of it all and is mostly just speculation.

Now unfortunately I doubt any of these possibilities will actually happen as we don't really see much happening with names for races as most are just generic races such as human, elves & dwarves. The only real importance with names is when it comes down to provinces.

 

Been a while since we had a person look into the lingustics of Wynn. Nice job!

 

Anyone else think that Corkus will actually be released on April 1st? The timing would be right and it would be very apt too
