Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Nothing but a quickly shutting portal that leaves a distorted trace, its actual destination indefinite from where it was.


"What kind? Can anyone here do it?" Ihra asks, worried and barely moving.

 

Eve flies to the location of the trace, curious.


"She shall be healed. Do not worry." Myria says calmly.

 

There's a massive scorch mark with light colored stones spelling the following;
"TRY SAVING HER FROM HERE"


"I worry about who's watching us..."
"You're keen, sweetheart..." Ruby growls. "I was hoping that diversion I made for the killbot would be enough to pick that girl off. I figured I should try deserving what's coming to me. To be accused of murder, one should first murder, no?"
Ihra just holds still.

 

Eve blasts back toward the city, incredibly fast.


Something clicks, and I begin searching for Ihra hastily.

 

She has to get in through one of three closed entrances...


She's up near the park.

"I guess I'll wait for Aj before pretending to barely get away." Ruby sighs. "Just be glad I can't call in my beloved to end your miserable existences here and now."

 

Eve just waits, observant.


"Ruby!" I shout, sincere, running towards Ruby without my weapons drawn.

 

One of the guards notices her and opens thr upper entryway.


"Act like you'll hear me out and backstab me while I'm begging for forgiveness... Aj, I know what you're trying to do. Yeah, I want forgiveness, but your pretty killbot is proof it's a dream."

 

Eve bows, but waits inside the upper entryway.


"No, Ruby, you don't. I genuinely want to hear you out. If you don't believe me, then let's decide on a coin flip. Heads, you let me hear you out, tails, I leave." I say, summoning a silver coin in my hand.

 

The guard eyes her curiously.
"We're both made to look bio, aren't we?" He says, eyes scanning Eve.


"You realize I was there, right? That hospital room; I was watching the whole time. I heard everything. Now, I will allow the coinflip - but not with your coin. Get one from city hall, and check to see it's fair. Just know, if you flip tails, I will earn my accusations."

Ihra looks as stiff as the tension in the air.

 

"You're quite smart." Eve says, smiling.


"Fine. You can keep the coin as a sign of my good will." I say, flipping the coin toward Ruby and walking away. The coin flip seems to be a little strong, as it flies over Ruby and clinks behind her.

 

"We know to use different amounts of force with bios and mechas. Bios we're careful to leave with only healable, non-mortal wounds. Mechas we're trained to shut down, brick, and reverse engineer or scrap." The guard says, bowing back. "If we couldn't tell the difference, we knew the price."
He pauses.
"We as in all of us. I haven't messed up so far."


"Good will from the one who called me a bitch. Waitin' on that good will." She groans, waiting for you to return.

 

"I'm sorry, I have to go." Eve says, charging her hand-cannon.


The coin rolls on the ground, and I disappear, before Ruby feels a massive blast of energy hit her square in the back.

 

The guard nods.


The illusion breaks, and Iruk is slammed into the wall, sparks flying from his back.
"Rrgh... what t-the hell?" He growls, drawing five blades and linking them into a whip.

"Love you too, darling." Ruby's voice echoes in your head. "Give Iruk my regards; it's a shame I can't fix what you've done to him." She cackles.
"And you call me the murderer..."

 

It seems I was one step ahead.

As the energy breaks the illusion, that's all it does. The fire was not malicious, it was simply meant to break the illusion, like Eve knew it was the entire time.

Ruby feels something grab a part of her.

 

She doesn't move.
"This is another illusion, hon. Check your eyes."

 

Except, the hold isn't physical.

Eve blasts Ihra to make sure she's not afflicted with anything.

I ask Ragnyon, "Mind telling me what's going on here and should I be concerned?"

 

This makes Ihra faint.


All sensory is stunned as Ruby uses an immense amount of energy to back off, causing both you and Eve to lose track of her again.

"Just a little fight... apparently Ruby betrayed us. It still seems odd, though." She sighs.

 

"First thing that comes to my mind is that she is under the influence of something. I highly doubt that she would just suddenly backstab everyone like this if that was her true intention. Revealing yourself suddenly like this is a risky move." I say, writing down things in my journal.

 

"Possibly. However, I kind of expected this when Aj called her a murderer. Now she wants to be forgiven or to earn the name."
