What Grinding Has Turned Into

So, a clusterfuck of players getting in on an xp fest while they can?

Okay, so it's not exactly grinding, but you get the idea

 

Well, considering that mob totems give 100% of the xp from the killed bonus mobs to everyone in its radius, it's not surprising that people just gather for free XP while two or three people grind it for them.

 

Honestly I hope they fix the AFK grinding capabilities of these things

Totem grinding is OP, but I actually like that encourages players to form large groups like this. Before, grinding solo was faster than using parties, and typically players would try to avoid each other while grinding, which is not what you want in an MMO. As OP as totems are, it's great to see this many players "cooperating".

Also it's a really good source of money for the server. People tend to buy a fuckton of DXP bombs for these, as well as having to pay for ranks to get totems

 

Which, in an effort to make the game less p2w, we kinda made it more p2w... hmm...

But hey, it gets the bills paid, and unlike full p2w, it gives benefits to non-donors

 

I mean, before the update we just had DXP bombs...

 

When you lvl 80 and you don't know how to get to molten or freezing heights to just gain some xp (idk y, but im lazy... I also need better gear so...) and your totems are actually sponges

 

I got to freezing heights when I was lv62

 

To be honest, the totem parties were the best thing they could have done to get rid of the "territory game". Before, players would claim Freezing Heights for themselves, and if another person came onto their server in Freezing Heights, they would be told by the territorial player to "leave". Now, DXP and totems have created these parties where high level players can get together and grind mobs, gaining fast xp and levels in the process.

I will say that this combination is a bit overpowered, considering sometimes I see one lv100/101 message per minute. But, in the case of server income, the bombs and ranks needed for these parties is the main source of donation money. You keep the server alive, and in return you give multiple players fast leveling and grinding.

Basically, what I'm saying is basically what @JuicedBananas mentioned above: the totems have brought the cooperation element back to this MMORPG. Before, players wanted the mobs and xp all to themselves. Now, everyone is constantly begging to be in the mob grinding party. Thank God that Freezing Heights is efficient again.

(Also, the new grinding areas also alleviated some of the stress on Freezing Heights. Still though, the Demon Lair and Freezing Heights are the two main 80+ grinding areas.)

 

Well no, I logged in on Wynncraft and I logged in in Freezing Heights. A shitload of mobs came towards me because of a mob totem. So I killed some mobs to get my health back , but a guy,the owner of the totem, told me on a rude way to leave. I wanted to say something back about spawning here and regaining my health, but he just said I didn't have the respect to say something. What the hell? This proves that there are still rude people which tell you to leave with the addition of mob totems.

 

This is a Minecraft server, there will always be rude people.

 

Now what about loot grinding?
