Quick Note: Instead of it being "Chapter 1" I have it as a prologue, because it fits better as a prologue.

Welcome to my thread for my new book:

Airadon - Unseen forces

This will probably bee the first book in a series, and also, I should explain quickly what "Airadon" is.

Airadon is a world/land/continent that I made up a while back. It was supposed to be a sibling to @That_Mage 's world named "Kelgor" and was supposed to be an "Adventure map" or a server, as a little "Game Development" project. However, the idea flopped, and I have been stuck with this world with all these ideas stuck in my head, and all that, for about a year or so.

But now, the time has finally come! I have come up with a storyline that I can put into book form, and I am actually excited to show you guys this!

I have done a bunch of research into names, their meanings, and all that, so there are some characters that have secret meanings behind their name. I feel it's up to you all to figure them out...

One more quick note: At the end of each post (excluding this one) there will be a "cipher" teasing the next chapter... the key will be hidden in the chapter (usually) or it might be elsewhere. Be sure to figure it out for a head-start on the next chapter ;)

Anyways, enough waiting, here is the chapter:

Prologue:



“Time, is one thing that we all have on this planet. Some of us have less than others. Some of us have more than others. Some of us are created differently, and yet we can find ways to come together as one. All beings must bow to the will of time, regardless if omnipotent, regardless if immortal, regardless if a king, peasant, or anything between. It goes hand in hand with the cruelty of fate, they work together in perfect harmony, to judge the weak and the strong.” Nevictus said, his voice, very raspy, and chalky, with some hints of sincerity, mixed with a lot of power. Claws digging into the ground, wings folded, horns on his head, with a long snake like tail. Along with his scales, which all seemed to be chipped, and scarred from his old age. He was a dragon, one of the oldest of his race, his face was serious, no smile, nor frown, but only a stern cold look. His seriousness demanded the attention of the others in the room, not one word was spoken, not even the wind flowed through the dark room.

This room was a cave, stalagmites and stalactites littered the floor and ceiling, a lake of lava was behind him, with a peninsula like platform jetting out into it. At the tip of the platform, was a circular area, almost like an altar.

The great dragon walked over to this platform, and stood upon it, raised his wings into the air stretched upwards, nearly touching the roof of this mouth like cave. As he did this, he started chanting something, a magic spell of sorts. “Asrileth saleth alnor” The great dragon chants. As soon as he is done doing so, lava starts to pour out of the walls, like waterfalls, however no cracks or hole is there to allow this to happen. The lava that appeared lightened up the rest of the cave, revealing the rest of the group, a human, tall and muscular, but nowhere near the great size of the old wise dragon. His name, Niladicus, king of the humans, and master of some arts in magic. A Dwarf, short, yet still tall for a dwarf, he too is bulky, along with a giant beard, yet he seems to have a powerful presence to him. His name, Raligrad, king of the dwarfs. And finally, the ice person, that has magic being used on them constantly to ensure that they don’t melt. She is tall, slim, and has a very feminine body, along with sharp blade like hands. She is Parmalia, queen of the ice people, as well as an ice assassin. Each the respective rulers of their home kingdoms, Nilidia, Parameth, and Raligord. They all stood on a platform protecting them from the lava, and watched on, as Nevictus, the elder of the dragons, summoned this from thin air.

“This place… it shall allow me to see those who are fit for this treacherous journey, out of all who fall under your rules.” The dragon preached, looking at the others in the cave with him. The dragon closed his eyes, and visions swallowed him whole. “From Nilidia, Niladicus, your representative hero… it is a boy by the name of Kane. Strong, fast, yet a little full of himself, power comes naturally to him, this is shown in his magic abilities, he likes to show off to others, but he is the choice for this journey.” Announced the great dragon. Niladicus looked at the dragon, nodded, and continued to spectate along with the others. “As for the one from Raligord, Raligrad, your representative hero… is a dwarf named Beldrek, an intelligent one, he knows more about machines, and the world around us than he knows about himself. He uses his brain to fix many issues, and when it comes to solving something, he is very quick on his feet, and gets to work immediately on the solution. He is the choice for this journey.” Raligrad too, looked at Nevictus, nodded, and continued to spectate this event. “As for the one from Parameth, Parmalia, yours is a girl by the name of Laqueta, a quiet one, shy, yet compassionate, however when in a battle, she shows no mercy for her enemies, it is either they die, or she dies. She is the choice for this journey.” Parmalia followed in the trend, of nodding, and continue watching. “As for me, this kingdom, Etherrak, the choice is Zannith, young, brave, and full of energy. He is the choice of this kingdom.” Nevictus announced, strongly. “However… there is, a fifth. His name, is-” Nevictus’ words were silenced by a sudden thud, followed by explosions, and screams emanating from the cave’s exterior.

“What was that?” Niladicus questioned. “Are we under attack?”

Neviticus nods “Yes, we must evacuate, all the leaders of this land are in one area, we must get out of here before they find us.”

The rest of them nod, and watch as the lava very swiftly recedes and water quickly replaces it. Platforms rise out of the water, forming a bridge, and as this happens they each step onto the bridge, and run.


End of Prologue

 

Ugh I am kinda upset that I am getting no replies. But, whatever.

 

I'd read it, but I'm the zone to make my story's prologue. Don't question why I'm on the forums while I'm in the zone.

Good job! No surprise its got dragons in it, heh.

 

In the world the dragons have been there for thousands of years, so they are the "holders of knowledge" of the world. And they keep the balance because they are the only ones still alive that know how the world around them works, seeing as how they live for up to at least about 10,000 years they are seen as the protectors of the land. However, times of war are along the horizon, and the armies must fight to defend this sorce of knowledge.
Each kingdom represents something, the dwarves represent power and sometimes intelligence, however the intelligence is mainly for the dragons, and the humans show magic, and the ice people show shyness, and stealth.

Each of these kingdoms must come together to fight one enemy, or they face an even worse threat that the outside worlds/continents.

 

This looks to be a fine-looking story, but I just felt like there was a lot of information thrown at me within a few minutes. I sort of lost track, but it may just be me. Perhaps the information and explaining of characters and such could be spread out in their own individual chapters? For example, each kingdom or race has their own chapter to explain their lore and how they are currently (or they can be fleshed out in a series of chapters). Again, it may just be me who thinks this.

 

I was already planning that, this chapter was only a little "intro" to the characters before you meet them.
Next chapter won't be when you meet them per-say, but you will meet one of them.

The writing of chapter 2 has started! :P
Might be out this weekend, however I might be distracted by Pokemon Sun and Moon, so idk

 

Ok, I am gonna be focusing on finishing Chapter 1 over this thanksgiving and black Friday weekend! :)

 

Update on story: Took a bit of a break from writing, mainly for Pokemon Sun and Moon, and also for Thanksgiving!

Also, Chapter 1 has been restarted, so it might take just a little longer to finish, but it should be out sometime next week! ^-^

Ok, so some of you might think that I have been neglecting this project like I have with my past projects...

However, this isn't the case xP

I have decided that I will be releasing these chapters in pairs, per month. Excluding November of course!

My current plan is to have Chapter 1 and 2 done by either the 12th (my Wynnanniversary) or somewhere around there (Anytime before Christmas)

Main reason it's been taking a while:

-I have been very busy with school work

-Been busy with some personal business

-And I've been working to make these two chapters worth the wait, and I have been trying to piece parts of the story together, and all that stuff, so that it all makes sense in the end ;P

I can tell you, the next chapter will have:

-Some comedy (yes, even in a dark time such as a surprise attack, there can be some humor)
-Some action
-An introduction to one of the main characters (probably might be one of my most interesting characters to date... but you'll have to learn why they are by reading)

And some other things that I will not say rn ;P

But, anyways, that is all for this quick update!

My goal: Get the chapter out by the 12th at the latest

Yes! Finally! Chapter 1!

However, with the promise I made in the first post, I must break it for right now: There is no cipher for this chapter YET, however, there will be one tomorrow: December, 14th, 2016


Chapter 1:

The Attack


Explosions, fire, destruction, civilians running for cover. This and more, was all that could be seen, of the great kingdom in the volcanus region that was the dragon kingdom in Airadon. Etherrak, the kingdom as a whole, was being attacked.

“Keep running!” I screamed, me being a young dragon with black and red scales painting my body, “We need to reach Sanctuary cave!” I yelled again, directed towards another dragon, this one a little younger. “I know Zannith! Do you think I’m stupid?” The younger dragon said, just then an explosion hit the side of the volcano we were running down, blowing us both back. The younger dragon and I landed right next to each other, however the younger one was bloody, and breathing heavily, a big rock had hit him in the body, the rock pierced the younger one’s scales. I staggered trying to get up onto my feet, and looked at the other dragon, my younger brother, whom was badly wounded.

“Oh no… a-are you ok?” I asked nervously, but I saw my brother still breathing, which was enough to tell me that my brother was still alive. “Don’t worry, we’ll get out of this” I says, as I slowly pick up my brother, and put him on my back. “I’ll make sure you get there safely, even if I have to die doing so.” I started slowly moving down the volcano, but I soon realized that lava was pouring out of the hole the explosion made. Once I realized this, I started to move faster, trying to beat the lava flow, however it was going down too fast.

Soon I could see the crowd of survivors in the Sanctuary cave, Sanctuary cave is a big cave that that is hard to shoot into, due to the angle in which it is at. However, the lava flow was very wide, and flowing between me and the cave. I had no other choice, but to jump. I stand back, ready to get as much of a ‘running’ jump as I can get. I ‘run’ as much as I can, pain shooting up my legs, and piercing through my body, as if my body was just going explode at any moment, but I held on. Right as I was about to reach the lava flow, I leaped, wings spread out slightly in order to give myself a little extra length to my jump. Instantly as my feet left the ground, I wondered to myself it I could even make it, while in mid air, part of me also was worried about how well my brother was hanging on. Time seemed to slow down, all around me everything went in slow motion for a few minutes.

It was at this point, that I heard voices in my head… voices that were familiar to me, yet still foreign. The words, each danced along through my mind slowly, at the same pace as the world around me. I looked down at the lava, I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and then exhaled. Then as if the gods themselves were messing with me, or teasing me, time seemed to go back to normal, and within a second, I was on the ground. My legs and feet each landed one by one, and just as they landed they each crumbled down to the ground. I then felt a very sharp and piercing pain in my legs, I looked around, and everything I saw was blurry… however when my vision came back, all I could see, was something bloody, and very ghastly.

I looked at the ruins of the kingdom around me. Fire, destruction, and explosions everywhere, along with the peppered in screams of innocent people. I looked around me, and saw dead bodies littered along the ground, the air was thick with death and blood. Then I looked to the clouds, black and sooty, then I saw the explosives that were launched at the kingdom, I saw hundreds if not thousands of them, like a swarm of moths going toward a flame. I then realized that I was laying in a pool of my own blood, two of my legs were bleeding, and the other two felt as if they were fractured, and snapped in two. I looked around me, and saw that my brother was there, however the rock that impaled him had cut ever so slightly deeper, due to the fall.

“Wh-what is going on…” I said, shocked at the situation I was in. “Why is this happening… why…” I say, as some tears start to swell up in my eyes, they were tears of sadness, and tears of pain.

I then look up at the sky again, time slows down again, and I hear more of the voices. The voices are seemingly speaking in the dragon language that was used long ago, in the ancient times of Airadon, when the world was merely an island in an ocean of emptiness.

“Zannith. .. vopraan vok... daar los ni saad. .. vopraan vok” said the mysterious almost spirit like voice.

Then, everything around me vanished, the pain, vanished, the blood, screams, and everything else vanished. I then closed my eyes, and told myself to wake up…

I soon felt a jerk, a feeling like something had possessed me. The feeling was that of losing all control over my body. Yet I did not move, I did not feel anything else, everything around me just turned to darkness, yet I still breathed, so I wasn’t dead. However, I seemingly wasn’t alive either.

Just then, a voice rang in my ears once more, this time more clearly than ever before, right before the darkness around me consumed me, I heared. “Wake up! Zannith! Wake up!”


End of Chapter 1

Can't wait to start to see some speculation as to what is happening so far... because within the next few chapters, things will start to make a lot more sense ;P

However, this one is slightly rushed, but I will be making it work out lol xP

 

Ok, I will stop making promises because I apparently never live up to them, all I will say is that the story is still being worked on, and the next chapter will be like, maybe in a week or a few weeks, or more, not quite sure when it will xD
