Anything abnormal about your brain is considered a bad thing, when it doesn't have to be :/ also I AM going to need therapy, look at the election results X_x

I had speech therapy, too. When I was child I had problem with R and our special czech letter - Ř. I learned the correct pronunciation, but letter Ř was for me really hard. Ř is like softened R, but it's our special, it has no equivalent in the world, every foreigner has problem with that our weird letter. Better do not even try to pronounce it...

There is a point in having a diagnosis and being treated, even if people don't 'see' it. Nobody knew that I had autism, and it is still not very 'visible'. Most of it is in my brain, how I think and how I feel. I still need help because of social problems, even though nobody notices.

Exactly. I suffered from several other issues prior to diagnosis and therapy, including, but not nearly limited to, social issues that are at least 2x my current ones (which are mostly from trust issues now anyway) and depression. Autism has an internal effect on someone, even if it's invisible.

I could do without speech therapy though... My response to every speech session: "I already know how to appropriately greet someone! Am I seriously the only one whose disorders don't matter?"

I'm not saying that disorders aren't an issue, I'm saying that they aren't an issue unless they hurt your daily life, my personal opinion is that people have less problems when they treat the problems, not the disorder.

I know a guy who has "mild" autism.
He acts like most people, and is pretty normal.
Only thing that you could notice is that he pronounces some words incorrectly, but that can be passed off as different accent or something.
Also for some reason he really likes to go to the gym.

Honestly, he acts better than some people in our school.
But I guess weird kids are in every high school in America.

Yeah... It's like a game's code, fix a bug and 50 more pop up...

But either way, it should be helped because it's not exactly fun. Mine, for example, is mild, and a special kind that is less "damaging", so to speak, but, even though it's invisible now, well, there are things that can't be seen that can be a problem. The smallest thing in the world can screw you over completely.

And I just had an epiphany: No matter how much treatment we give, we cannot make the disorders go away, they're permanent. For that reason, the most we can do is get treatment to keep them from causing too many problems. For that reason, stopping said treatment can cause hidden problems to pop up again.
