Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"It's ok, Ihra. It's ok." I say, gently patting Ihra on the back.

 

"I'll give Eve another chance, but why was she so hostile to everyone else?" Ihra asks, wiping her eyes.

 

"She was lacking an update. Her actions where based as if you and Artemis were children to be protected in an area where everyone is either hostile, or will turn hostile." I say.

 

"You can say that again."
I say, walking over.
"She almost blew Crystal's head off."

 

"Attack golems are dangerous beings. They can't feel pain, and they follow basic orders. 'Kill everyone that isn't me' in a golem is extremely dangerous," I say, "You see a presumably mage crystal attack golem near the two children you're meant to protect, and you're obviously going to try and kill it."

 

"Oh... was it fixed?"

 

"Yeah. She should act a little more 'Human' now. Instead of shooting you with a tranquilliser, she'll shout rude words at you and get annoyed." I say, chuckling at the end.

 

"Yeah, that's a very strict way of looking at a magic rock. Crystal was just walking up to investigate, which is exactly what I'm saying. I'm glad you initiated the update when you did."

 

"She usually acts like she does now when she's not got orders to follow, it's just she was programmed to strictly follow orders when she did. Mainly for the sake of testing," I say, "She likes to draw in her free time. She's become quite the artist."

 

"Huh."
I say, looking at Eve.
"Did she learn from anyone?"

 

"No, she's self taught. She just looked at things and drew them. She obviously knew about artists and saw their work, but she wasn't ever given lessons." I say.

 

"It makes sense, though. She's definitely a carefully crafted robot. Most likely, she sees the world different than us. Those images could be translated onto paper fairly simply."
I say, looking at Eve.

 

"I just hope her life is better now." I say, looking at Eve too.

 

"What was she like, when she was first created?"
I inquire.

 

"Simple, yet somewhat advanced. She had consciousness, but she lacked parts. Her mind hasn't changed much, just what she's told to do," I say, "If anything, the update was a kindness. I never had to write code for her to act as she does when she draws, it was already there."

 

"So, in the midst of developing her, she still developed herself?"

 

"Essentially, yes," I say, "Especially since..."

"I...think that's a story for another time." I say, cutting myself off.

 

Ihra groans, then laughs a bit.
"I guess that's a bit better."

 

"She won't actually," I say, chuckling more, "She'll just use that as a last resort. It's more of a 'stop child from moving to defend better' action."

 

"So, she'll let me go to Rineth now?"
