Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I walk over to her, dusting myself off.
"Hey. What happened?"

 

"I don't know, but I feel a little different. You look a little hurt, are you ok?" Eve asks, her voice different; more human-sounding.

 

I clearly notice.
"Yeah, I'm fine, except for the fact that you have a great throwing arm."

 

"Oh, uh, thanks? I don't know how you'd know that, but the compliment is appreciated." Eve says happily.

 

"What I mean by that is that you threw me over there."
I say, pointing behind my shoulder using my thumb.

 

"Oh, sorry!" Eve says, getting up and hugging you.

 

"It's okay."
I say, intentionally keeping my arms limp at my side.
"Looks like someone made some adjustments to you."

 

"Oh, who?" Eve says, checking herself over; as if looking for new arms or legs.

 

"Internal adjustments."
I clarify.
"And if I had to bet, I'd say it was Aj, but it could be anyone."

 

"I really hope someone hasn't been programming me for malicious purposes." Eve says fearfully.

 

"If someone was, most of us would be dead already, so don't fret it."
"Wait, someone could just make her be a killing machine?!"
Crystal asks, stay back and afraid.

 

"I have some pretty strong security, but I can't help but worry." Eve says.

Eve suddenly looks panicked, "Wait, where's Ihra and Artemis!?" She asks, urgent.

 

"Ihra's right here."
Crystal points to the unconscious Ihra on the ground.
"You put her to sleep, remember?"
"We don't... actually know where Artemis is, though."
I say, taking the pause to look around to see if I could spot Artemis.

 

Artemis is focused next to Katie's iceberg, vines covering most of it.

"Oh god, oh god oh god oh god I was supposed to protect them!" Eve says worriedly, pulling at her hair, clearly stressed.

 

I grab Eve by the shoulders.
"Calm down."
I say, crouching a bit and looking her straight in the eyes.
"Artemis is over there."
I say, gesturing to Artemis and the iceberg.
"Ihra's here."
I gesture to Ihra.
"They're fine. You're doing your job correctly for now."

 

"O-Ok." Eve says, calming down. She almost looks a little scared.

 

"Would you like to introduce yourself to Artemis?"
I say, softly.
"I can accompany you."

 

"U-Uh, ok." Eve says, slightly scared.

 

I look at Crystal.
"Crystal, do you mind staying here and keeping an eye on Ihra?"
"I'm fine with that."
"Okay then."
I turn back to Eve.
"Let's go."
I smile, and start walking to Artemis.

 

Eve nervously trails you.

Artemis doesn't seem to notice you when you walk over; she seems quite focused on healing.
