Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Alright..." I say, heading to an elevator, "You realise it's kind of hard to telekinetically summon a war machine from another dimension and give it a long list of who is and isn't a threat while seconds away from death, right?"

 

"You've been awake a while. Also, why did you leave the portal open again? You popped in to say hi to Artemis, then you go back... and I followed you in to make sure you were actually okay."

 

"I'm surprised you managed to get through without much trouble." I say, turning a few dials in the elevator. Ragnyon and I are teleported to a strange lab of sorts, rows of obvious metal robots lining the walls; some complete, others just parts. I head through the lab to a door with a sign above it labelled: 'EVE: STATUS: DEPLOYED.'

"I mostly leave those portals up with security measures, so people I want to get through can whilst others get killed. I think I might've just set up a 'in the vicinity' security measure though." I continue.

 

"My spirit isn't defenseless like my body. However, I stayed inside the walls until I found your soul."

 

"Must be pretty easy to find my soul." I say, heading through a rather simple looking room. There's a metal chair and table in the centre, with a rack of many different coloured pencils and pens, sheets of paper, some drawn on and others plain, and a book. The cover of the book is labelled 'Eve's Diary'

 

"When souls are all you can see like this, yes. It was more a matter of not scaring anyone on my way to you."

 

"I'd be careful around death guardians, then. They have a habit of...making souls move on." I say, heading into another room with a large screen, keyboard and mouse. I start interacting with it, entering a password when a prompt appears. Eventually, the screen fills with code which I begin adding, removing and editing.

"Huh. Looks like an update wasn't fully pushed. How has Eve been acting? Has she been acting kind of...formal? Robotic?" I ask.

 

"She put Ihra to sleep as she tried to flee to Rineth. Guards said she almost gave Ihra a lava bath by tranquilizing her midair."

 

Helianthus listens in to the plans.

 

"Yeah. That's what this update was for. She acts, shall we say, more 'human' in normal circumstances, but she acts more 'robotic' when following tasks, like on a mission. What this should change is that instead of tranquilisjng midair, she'll weigh out the options and try to reason with Ihra. Essentially, she'll blend in as a human much better," I say, running a few pieces of code, "She should act a lot different once she's updated. She'll still follow her orders, of course, but she'll put more focus and care with how she interacts with others and what effects her actions will have. Pretty much as a living being would."

Eve's eyes suddenly turn completely black, and she freezes up before falling to the ground.

 

I wait and watch Eve for any signs of activity.

 

A short moment later, Eve's clothing changes. Her shirt changes colour to orange, with a green cog symbol appearing on it. Her white trousers turn to dark blue, and her boots become a shiny black.

 

I remain silent, intrigued at the current events.

 

Eve just lies there. There's an occasional twitch of a finger, or slight jolt of movement, but she doesn't seem to be too active.

 

I pay attention to Eve, and crouch down to get a better look.

 

It almost looks like Eve is deactivated, though there are sounds that can be heard from...within her?

 

I touch her arm, checking if any motion is going on there.

 

Eve's arm suddenly springs to life, grabbing your hand and throwing you away from her.

 

I quickly get up, and wait for Eve to do something else.

 

After a while, her eyes spark back to life, and she sits up and looks around.
