Coursing Golems And Baby Yetis

Hello Wynncraft,

I was journeying throughout the Ice Canyon area whilst looking for the cave of the Gunpowder Imps. I happened to go the wrong direction and stumbled across two sets of curious creatures. I started a climb up a mountain path into the walls of the Canyon where I found myself swarmed by Baby Yetis. The path plateaus where an igloo sits with exploratory/scientific supplies around and within. A trail of blood leads out of the igloo and down to the snowy basin of the Canyon where it abruptly stops. I was surprised to not find a Mother Yeti. I do not have pictures of these creatures.

I then continued off path along the plateau and came to a shallow cave. Here are two neutral creatures called 'Coursing Golems'. They are in close proximity to the Baby Yetis yet I can see no correlation. They drop nothing on death but do respawn so that there are always just two.






Their rough location.

So I have two questions:

1) Have you ever found the Baby Yetis in your travels/a quest and where is the Mother?
2) What are these Coursing Golems and why are they in this cave?

It is my guess from the blood trail that a human/villager was up at his igloo researching. Either he was studying the yetis or something else on the ice wall. A conflict with the Yetis ensued, probably with the researcher killing the Mother Yeti. I believe he himself was gravely wounded and would be heading to Lusuco for assistance, as an ascent would be too much for someone in that state. I do not know why the trail of blood ends at the foot of the path. If the coursing golems are connection, I would say they are research instruments/assistants to the researcher there. It would imply that the researcher is a villager/from Gavel. However, I am not convinced the golems are related.

1) There is no quest for those yetis. I have found them myself awhile ago. The mother does exist but I forgot where.

2) They are guarding the entrance to Ohms' unfinished lab.

 

I think the adult Yeti is still alive and the blood is from it dragging the corpse of the researcher back up the mountain after they went down

 

Ah, what is that? I looked on the Wiki but couldn't find anything about Ohm besides a mention to Ohm the Golemancer and Gale, lovers who drop weapons found in the Qira Hive. In this thread, a mod talks that Ohms Lab could be accessed by dropping a Mechanical Key into a nearby snowbank, but that is no longer operational. Is this to do with the ??? quest I hear about?

HMMM what are those golems doing there

 

So far as we know, Gale and Ohms have nothing do do with ??? (as ??? is centered around the three scientists, Yahya, Nohno, and Mehme [Maybe Sohso, who fled to Fruma {or at least went there}]).
Um, so far as Gale and Ohms...
Gale works for Qira willingly as the air floor boss, but it's the spirit of Gale. Her grave is in the Hive. She's an air archer.
Ohms is a Golemancer, but one day his favorite golem went mad. Something happened to him.
They both planned to give something to each other in the time of their deaths, however they ended up not, for unknown reasons. On Ohms' Wish the lore reads "If anyone finds this, leave it at my Gale's gravesite. I promised her a memento, too." We know what the memento is (I think), but I can't remember what it is. Anyhow, tons of people have dropped all sorts of things into Gale's grave (there's a hopper) but nothing has worked to open a pretty obvious doorway nearby. Icebreaker got a glimpse of it when he used a weird F5 glitch to look inside. Inside was a tier 3 thunder wand model - the same model as Ohms' Wish. But then Selvut got really pissed. So. Um. Yeah.

 

Interesting, thank you for the information, I am only level 52 and so have not encountered Qira's Hive yet. If I refer you to Selvut's thread I linked above, in the first page of discussion there is talk of how Ohms took Gale somewhere to be buried and that he buried her in a particular mountain. This theory is out of my league at the moment, but maybe Gale is buried inside the Inner Lab of Ohm which the Coursing Golems guard. I hear Frozen Ice Golems occasionally drop Mechanical Keys that gave access to the Lab. I'll return to the Ice Canyon soon to test this.

I went back and unfortunately could not find the adult Yeti nor a corpse in the area.





It is as you say, perhaps where the TNT is stored in the mountainside cave was originally the adult Yeti's home and so it dragged him up from the bottom to the cave as a meal.

 

Well, we think Gale is buried at her grave. /s

As for Ohms' lab, if you enter it, you'll find a button, and if you click it, text will appear that says something about the teleporter malfunctioning. So.

 

Ah kk. Before I go back to try get into the Lab, did you find Mechanical Keys dropped from Frozen Iron Golems? As I believe I might have picked up a Mechanical Key before that I found near Llevigar's Power Plant.

 

Ok, so y'know the Corrupted Sentinel cave? There's a cave right next to that; it's the start for Frost Bitten. One cave over is the Frozen Golems - they drop the Mechanical Keys.

 

I went to the location and grinded there for half an hour, but the Frozen Iron Golems dropped no keys. There is also a small group that spawns right underneath the Coursing Golems, they drop nothing either. I do wonder what this wooden structure is in the Frozen Iron Golem Cave - it would more logically be a dam, but looks to me more like the hull of a ship.



Maybe it has to do with my level, but I think the Mechanical Key drop and therefore access the Lab is gone.

 

The lab has never been accessible. It is still WIP.
As for the key drop, I guess it was just temporarily removed to prevent confusion.

but the teleporter still malfunctions

 

Where did you get the key from and where is the hopper to throw it into?

 

It drops at a 5% chance, I believe.

 

Ah, thank you, perhaps I was unfortunate when grinding. I look to return to the cave shortly. Does anyone know which snow bank it is that you throw the Mechanical Key into? (in order to gain access to Ohm's Lab for new readers).

 

If you examine them closely you should figure it out pretty quickly.

 

It was not snow, it was some slightly darker carpet to the left of the door

 

Update: After completing many a quest in Gavel, I returned to the Ice Canyon. After some time, indeed I did obtain a Mechanical Key. The pale pinkish carpet at the foot of the snowbank I previously overlooked. There is not much as has been said here already, just a futuristic tunnel leading to a teleporter that only gives an error message.



Once I reach a high enough level I look forward to pursuing Ohm lore further.
