    There was this useless ugly castle before in that place. It was more a tower if anything. Nothing special, just a loot chest.

    That confirms it.

    Endermen are in Dern, and they're called "Otherworldly Creature."

    Also "gateway island" leads you to the mines.

    GATEWAY island.

    I had seen the entrance(Although it is just being assure) before this thread has been posted. I was guessing it would be somekind of entrance, but I think you are the first making this assure using LOGIC.
