Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Great. Could you find someone to train me?"

 

"I'll put you to work under the supervision of the other employees, they can show you what to do." Charles says.

 

"Thank you." Lidnis says.

 

Charles gets up and heads to the door, holding it open for Lidnis.

"You can either start work today or tomorrow, whichever you want." Charles says happily.

 

"Today and now would be ideal. The council doesn't know I left."

 

"Alright then, just head into that room there and some of the others should get you started." Charles says, pointing to a door behind the counter.

 

"Thanks." Lidnis says, walking off.

 

Once inside the room, a few employees appear to be sorting boxes and clothes.

"Oh, you must be the new assistant. Need some help?" One says, looking up when she sees Lidnis.

 

"Yes; I'm unfamiliar with working with this kind of fabric. I'm used to working with metals." Lidnis says, pointing to her sleeve.

 

"Oh, well you'll need to be a lot more delicate with fabric." The employee says, sitting down in one of two chairs and showing Lidnis some basic techniques.

 

"Why does your kind use fabric cloth? Metal cloth is much more protective, but just as soft and light." Lidnis asks, watching their technique.

 

"I'm not really sure what metal cloth is, but we're not really a species who needs to be protective with what we wear. We're already tough enough as it is." The employee says.

 

Lidnis holds out her sleeve.
"My robe is metal. It's essentially metal cloth."

 

"Wow." The employee says, surprised, touching the sleeve gently.

 

It's as soft and as light as the thread cloth. It's equally flexible.

"There are few of us, so we slide in what we can."

 

"That makes sense." The employee says, stitching together a dress.

 

Lidnis watches closely.
"So... why fabric cloth over metal cloth?"

 

"Well, I guess it's just easier to acquire." The employee says.

 

"Your planet doesn't conjure metals?"

 

"We have metals, but I personally don't know how to make metal cloth." The employee says, adding some final touches to the dress.
