"Times is a better way to phrase it. I'm a chronomancer; efficiency is no concern to me..."

 

"Then you sound perfect for the job! Let me go grab the boss." The employee says, heading into a back room.

 

Lidnis smirks, tightening her cloak.

 

Eventually, a forest guardian comes out of the back room.

"Ah, you must be the chronomancer looking for a job here. The name's Charles, nice to meet you." Charles says, offering a handshake.

 

Lidnis accepts the handshake.
"Same. Call me Elaine, please. You've nothing against dragons, I hope?"

 

"Not at all, Elaine. Please, come into my office." Charles says, heading into the back room and holding the door for Lidnis.

 

Lidnis enters, keeping her cloak on for the time being.

 

Charles takes a seat in a large chair behind a desk in the middle of the room, and a smaller chair seems to be waiting on the opposite side of the desk for Lidnis.

"So, Elaine, how much experience do you have with making clothes?" Charles asks.

 

"Not much in the typical sense. I can learn in no time, though." She smirks.

 

"What jobs have you worked before this one, and for how long?" Charles asks.

 

"Hmm... I suppose I can't hide anything. Can you handle the full truth?"

 

"What do you mean?" Charles asks.

 

"My occupation is too important for this guise."

Lidnis removes her cloak, unfurls her wings, and stretches.
"My name is Lidnis, head of the Timekeepers' Council. I govern a city of refugee draconians who are being assisted by your king. I hoped to find a job to get coin in order to feed those who are starving. I can only work every so often; but you have the most powerful chronomancer asking to join your ranks. Weigh this carefully."

 

"Then you're hired." Charles says happily.

 

"Know I cannot simply abandon my people. I cannot work full time... within technical terms."

 

"We don't demand long hours. I'll see if we can work you out a schedule that works for you." Charles says.

 

"For security reasons, I can only come in so often. Might you explain the monetary system of this city?"

 

"Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond and Mage are the types of currency, but the salary here is about two hundred gold an hour." Charles says.

 

"How much food could that buy?"

 

"Well, it's the same as a five course meal at the best restaurant in this city, they're incredibly famous and they don't sell cheap." Charles says happily.
