After I posted my previous build, there were tons of helpful comments and criticisms. I decided to take these words to heart, and I tried to add a couple more details, as well as elevate the Y axis a little bit more.

    Here's the improved version :saltedhappy:

I added in a mountain as a background, and tried making a few custom trees. I also added in a bunch more details to make the build much more lifelike

    My first custom tree :)

I plan to enlarge the river, and add a lake that I can build a town on.

Mountain looks too bland. Needs more block variation such as cobblestone and cyan stained clay.

And are those vanilla spruce trees? God don't ever use vanilla trees. Custom trees look much better.

And NEVER EVER expose lighting sources in caves! You don't simply place sea lanterns/glow stone and leave them lying around. One good trick is to place them on the ground and cover them with a carpet depending on the surroundings(in this case light grey carpet since it's a cave).

Thanks for telling, I'll edit right away
EDIT: I removed all the sea lanterns, and placed end portal blocks for light. Working on claying up the mountain :)

Very big improvement! It's really starting to take shape! Now if you can just smooth up the tree and maybe add some landscape that goes up and down, it'd be on it's way to being polished up!

    MOAR CUSTOM TREES >:0

btw ever tried wire framing for your terrain?

and also use a texture pack, if not do this

    -Render distance 2
-Add fog (use gray stained glass and gray stained glass pane, with some white and dark gray), make the fog on the ground and make it a blob shape or a blanket like shape
    -Time=night
-If you can use a texture pack, use it
-add lighting (torch, bond fire, lanter, glowstone)
-If your using world edit, select the region then use this command: //replace stone 25%stone,10%cobblestone, 25%stained_clay:9,15%stone:5,15%stone:6
-Remove or make the waterfall more wide
-use slabs and stairs on your mountain
-Add bushes and use redstone or lapis ore as berries
