Beneath The Depths Changed

The area on pirate island you retrieve the map from has changed completely.
I get to the room with the two guards and drop the emerald block and the wall crumbles, but when I climb the stairs it just leads back to the entrance. Is there something else I am supposed to do? If so where?

wait for that gap to close, then cross and dont hit the pressure plates

 

uh, do I enter the hidden area, but not climb the stairs? or stay in the room with the hopper?
Because I have been trapped in the stair area with no way out, and I have spent three minutes by the hopper fighting and waiting for the gap to close and it doesn't.
Do I climb the stairs and then proceed down the hall and try not to step on plates?
I have reached a wtf point with this, I know its not as hard as I'm making it.

just go to the edge of the upstairs part and be careful cuz there':s another trap

I just tried again twice. Once waiting at the top step of the stair and once waiting at the bottom stair. Neither seem to be working. Both times the secret door closes and no other pathway opens up.

Same. I have gotten tired of /kill from inside the secret stairs. Is there something in the hopper room before you go in you are / aren't supposed to do?

 

you go from the hopper room to the dpiral stairs that is opened from the tripwire and go up, then get past the traps and done, you go

top of stairs facing down short passage. At the far end it is open to the left into the end of a passage from the first floor of the place.


view from end of that passage. to the left top of secret stairs. There is nothing else there, not now, not if I wait till it closes again.
To the right is the passage which is always there, part of the first floor of the place. more or less immediately to my right is where the wall rolls back into place.



I can see this through a gap. When you reach the bottom of the stairs that enter, you reach a room with three branches. straight leads you to the hopper room (well, straight then left).
Left would lead you to where the secret staircase leaves you.
Right is distinguished by an outcropping half blocking the corridor. this is visible if you were to turn right and then right again.

Obviously there is more here. I just don't know how to get to it.

Where exactly does the map come from? From the boss in that room? From the actual throwing of the eb into the hopper? Or another area?

I just did the quest again for the 15+ time and noticed sometime I leave with a pigman's meat ... not sure if maybe that is supposed to be the map or just coincidence.

 

the map comes from a room farther in, throw an eb in the hopper run up the stairs and there is a 3x3 hole that opens, trigger this and wait. after it closes run past to this section with cannon balls, successfully dodge them and get past and get a map

 

OK, go up the stairs, down the short passage, turn left (obviously), go straight down the passage. At the end of it another bit of wall dissolves, on a slight delay, and there is a stair going up. then there is bit where a hole can open under you and drop you into the first floor again, but the wall that was open on the delay for the stairs you and I kept missing was still open.
