Hey all, this is probably my last theory unless something crops up and I just have to cover it. Nonetheless, this is still a theory thread and I need to get into it.

Okay, here is the main question everyone's asking;

Why do the Sky Islands float?

My answer to this is these crystals found in Ahmsord, Thank you @Bloww!

Yeah, so these crystals I feel is the reason the Sky Islands are floating!

There's not really any proof or reasoning to this theory, but I have a theorist's hunch!
Also, the Wynn crystals also have a power explained in Wynn Ex. ... So Gavel Excavation confirmed?! BUT WAIT

WynnExcavation is a GAVEL company! So this could mean there is a stronger force wanting the Gavel Crystals in Gavel, so Amadel and his team went to Wynn to gather the crystals there, and perhaps use those crystals to take over GavelEx. ? It's just a theory, but it's certainly plausible.

Next up, the Astralaus theory!

Now, most of you who did the 'Brie' route of Recipe for Disaster will know Astralaus, a space-wizard who is know for his reverse gravity house. Now, what does the bottom of a Sky-Island look like? A mountain! What is coincidentally next to the Sky Islands? The COTL. ! What is the COTL primarily made of? Mountains! Coincidence? I think not. Anyway, in my opinion this isn't a very likely theory, as Astralaus was just invented for Recipe for Disaster, and if you look at RFD, it's just a fetch-quest with a few fun mechanics.

Finally, the Wybel theory!

Okay, some people think that Wybels floating = Same power that makes the Sky Islands float. Seems correct, right? I'm afraid to tell you that's not right. The Wybels 'float' because of Minecraft's physics.
Anyway, the REAL theory here is that the alien spaceship that the Wybels travelled to Gavel in is crashed below the Sky Islands, with a mysterious force holding it up. It is also thought that is why you take damage when you fall into the void, it's because you're entering the same airspace of the ship, it slowly kills you to stop it from discovering you.

What if the crystals are actually what powders are made from?

 

These theories seem a bit baseless tbh, e.g. the wybel one. It's speculation more so than anything else.

 

Depends on if we know what the crystals are made of. I'I've never done WynnEx, so I'm not a wynnex guy, so if we do know that the crystals correspond to elements, that might work. But if that's the case, who is the person behind making these powders?
It could be the powder masters, or someone we haven't heard of yet.

I'm really sure it says it some where in a quest area. Maybe the llevigar library. or maybe im thinking of an entirely different quest together

EDIT: it's the fable on the table in the kandon library. if someone could get a screenie that would be great

 

I think that the crystal samples could be from the meteors (from ???). There's a Red one, a Blue one, and a Yellow (ish.. it's more gray than yellow) one. Of course, it could tie in with Gavel Excavation, as the meteors could be Gavel's "crystals." I don't really know if crystals could be harvested from the meteors - we don't know if the meteor shards are some sort of metal or crystals (because in the real world, most meteors/meteoroids have iron or nickel - correct me if I'm wrong).
The crystal samples could, of course, come from different crystals and the meteors (from ???) have absolutely nothing to do with it. But I'm skeptical of that.


Also, what does the sign in the second picture say? I'm seeing:
