Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Why were you asking, anyway? The only person I remember being scared of you was Artemis." Stephanie says.

 

Aqui walks up to Katie.

"Hello, Katie, right? I'm Aqui." Aqui asks, offering a handshake.

"Yes, it's nice to meet you Aqui." Katie says happily, shaking Aqui's hand.

"Ihra seemed quite adamant about me meeting you for some reason." Aqui says, smiling.

Katie glances at Ihra.


"Most of the time, I would believe so." I say.

 

"You're both water guardians. I thought maybe you met before."


"So you don't think you're by relation responsible for the hundreds of deaths that resulted from killing Vei?"

 

"Sometimes when people get built up from emotion, they tend to feel strongly more easily. When I scared you at the generator, it seemed that I made you feel more, which in turn leads to a snowball effect of you getting angry enough to explode the generator."
Pause.
"Did I over-explain that?"

 

"I don't think we've ever met before." Katie says.


"I find it best not to pick at old scabs, but I shall say what I have said many times before and that is killing Vei was not on purpose." I say.

"Oh, right, the generator. I've tried to forget what happened there, but you did scare me quite a bit there." Stephanie says.

 

"Oh, sorry for bringing it up, then."
I say, not sarcastic.

 

"Well, maybe she knows your parents or something?"


"Accident or otherwise, she did die because of you, correct?"

 

"It's fine." Stephanie says, smiling.

"Why would she know my parents? They're away most of the time..." Katie says.

"Who are your parents?" Aqui asks.

"They're pirates, my mother is a leader of a powerful ship; her name's Aquira." Katie explains.

"That...sort of sounds a little familiar actually." Aqui says.


"I guess technically speaking I was a part of it in a sense." I say.

 

"Just trying to stir conversation. You're both water guardians, there has to be something they talk about..."


"So that's why most people here hate you or will avoid you. Just letting you know."
Lidnis pauses.
"What, were you expecting something you didn't know?"

 

I smile back.
Then I remember something.
"Are you fine with talking about how you were punished in the Shadow Realm?"
I ask.

 

"Water?"
"Ice?" The pair say, before laughing.


I bow, "Oh, captain obvious! You have surely come to save the day once more!" I say sincerely.

"I-I guess if you wanted to know, but it's a little hard." Stephanie says.

 

"I do want to know, but if you don't want to talk about it, then that's fine, too."

 

"Please tell me that's not all..." Ihra groans.


"Figured I'd force you to make up for the time you made me waste."

 

"It's more of an experience of unimaginable torture; they altar your memories to make it seem like you'd been tortured for hundreds of years, despite it never happening. It's horrible." Stephanie says, shaking.

Aqui and Katie start talking about rather general guardian topics with each other, sharing how their lives are and are not alike in ways, eventually sitting down on an ice bench.


"Time is something of an infinite matter for someone who is immortal. There is no way to waste time, for everything you do when you 'waste' time has purpose." I say.

 

Ihra leaves them to talk as she looks for Artemis.


"Ageless, not immortal. Timeline jumping is frustrating when somebody keeps corrupting them, and believe me when I say none of us are taking a paradox for you."

 

Artemis seems to be near to Stephanie, talking to Myria.


"I've already taken a paradox." I say, spinning Shadow Katana.

 

Ihra approaches them.
"Well... We may be moving again."


"Would you sacrifice it to save yourself?" Lidnis utters, unimpressed.

 

"Oh, really?" Artemis asks, surprised.


"I've already fought paradoxes." I say.

 

"Things are slowly improving, and we're still dawdling for the Hive Master to prepare. What more could we do?"


"Paradoxes don't always take pseudophysical forms. Still, if you think you're so high and mighty, I'm surprised you haven't killed me yet. Isn't that what tyrants do? Crush everyone who goes against them?"

 

"So what now?" Artemis asks.


"That's what idiots do. Smart people pretend to be their friends first." I say, grinning.
