"Well then. Seems things are good. Catch her name?"
I ask.

 

"Sorry, no, I didn't. Said she worked for some Shadow King, and I told her he has quite the rep here. She said he protects his city from the hostile wilderness of their homeworld, but he shattered all our hope of freedom, sans Ihra. He also brought in that psycho girl who got half the living population who knows how to work the damn power plant killed."

 

I look at Crystal and Iruk, clearly choosing my words carefully.
"Sounds like quite the powerful guy. The 'psycho girl' you speak of is getting her licks, though. Figuratively. She's probably getting a lot more than licks, but I wouldn't know. As for Ihra, I can safely say that there's hope for her quest."
"Sure is!"
The short rock adds cheerfully.

 

Iruk glances at you, knowing what you did.

"That's good. I'd hate to imagine what it must be like for the girl. The guy kills your mother and then barely gives you a moment alone."
"He's not really hostile towards Ihra, but it's not exactly friendship, either."
"Huh. Interesting. At any rate, nice to see fresh faces here, however long there'll even be any of us to greet you..."

 

"Tirra...the earth guardian of the group. It's...nice to see you're ok out here." Tirra says, sounding depressed. She looks like she's holding back a burst of tears.

Idala, Daras and Hythania appear.
"What happened? We were exploring the city when we heard the explosion."

"Mines? I have restored the old mines in the north of our kingdom. There are plenty of materials there for everyone."

 

"Quite a good valley." Helianthus comments, and goes back and helps the other people with the digging.

I wait for the response of the council.

 

"You guys'll make it through! You just gotta keep trying, however hard the times may be. Just don't give up!"
Crystal seems so cheerful is almost seems fake.

 

It seems I or my friends are nowhere to be found. A few guardians can be seen around the city, however.

 

"Same... What's wrong? And why are you wearing rocks?" Ihra asks, concerned.

"Wait... Really? What about the collosal beast you made that roams the mountains?"

"Yes, it'll limit their options. We, however, will have quite a few advantages here. What bait did you have in mind?"

"Sure, on the condition you tell us why."

"You know, you're awfully cheery for a golem. Have you ever considered what melting to death would feel like?"

 

Crystal thinks, frowning.
"Probably really slow and painful."
"Work to avoid, and you'll be shaking in your boots the entire time. Work to preserve, instead. Gives you more inspiration."
I say, smiling.

 

"All due respect, I'm pretty sure right now we can only afford to work to preserve; however long that lasts is beyond me."

 

"Well, good. It'll last, just don't quit. If I know anything about making it through, it's that it takes a long time. Although, it varies, depending on the situation."

Crystal seems lost in his own thoughts, and he isn't smiling.

 

"It's just my armour; it passively helps my abilities too, I like to stay connected to the earth," Tirra explains, sighing, "Have you ever had your impression of someone shattered? Like, you thought they were great, but it turns out they're not really that great?"

 

Iruk signals for you two to get out behind his back.

"If we quit, we'd already be dead. Still, I have hope; Ihra's pulled off some crazy things already."
"True. Anyhow, thanks for your time. It's good to have perspective, no?"
"Yeah. Try not to scare the bios, alright?" The worker says, chuckling a bit.

"Huh. Seems super heavy to me. Anyhow, I guess that I haven't really. What do you mean by that?"

 

"It's really quite light..." Tirra says, easily moving her arms, "I-It's just...ugh, nevermind."

Tirra hides her face, looking away as tears begin to run down her face.

 

"We'll try."
I say smiling, walking off.
Crystal walks off, too, but he's still in thought.

 

Ihra hops down next to Tirra, giving her a hug.
"Come on. I won't laugh. Tell me what's wrong!" She says, concerned.

Iruk walks out behind you.
"You almost blew it, there." He whispers once you're outside.

 

"I-I don't k-know if I've been fighting f-for the right c-cause..." Tirra says through tears.

 

"Elaborate."
I ask of him.
