Helianthus nods, and walks through the portal, followed by the shorter one.

I return to the city hall and knock on the door before entering.

 

The other three are already through.

"Here, a valley. Easiest to rig."

"I didn't expect a god to even bother knocking. You didn't before, so just come in." Lidnis says, voice raised so you can hear her.

 

Crystal looks up, and his eyes figuratively light up from the cheerful remark.

"Well put. I'm Thirteen, by the way."
I smile, holding out a hand to shake.

 

"Alright. Now then, it's time for you to show what your plan is for the trap."

I enter and bow.
"In war, I am a god. In life, I am a king." I say, "I came here to inquire about the upside down houses. Why are they upside down?"

 

"Literally anything you want. Electrified harpoons, snares, I really don't care. You're the boss right now; call the shots."

"Because of altered gravity. Upside down houses would just be odd otherwise."

 

"I was actually digging tunnels to redirect the magma to hopefully spread it out in the long run, preventing a city of people from taking a lava bath." Ignia says.

"Nice to meet you, Thirteen!" Aqui says happily, shaking your hand.

"Oh, I have to go, we can keep talking sometime later!" Aqui says, walking off with Victus and Mortimer.

 

"I say we build something that will entice them to go to it, and then within said thing, they will be separated." Helianthus says, "You think a small labyrinth would be plausible?"

"Did the fallout alter gravity?"

 

I smile as she walks away.

"I'm sensing a theme here with water guardians."
I say to Crystal.

 

"Y-you think I believe that you're trying to help by routing it towards a city?!" She utters.

"Sure, but make it well lit. They have a shadow."

"No, our magic makes it possible as to get the most out of the limited space we have."

 

"Alright, let's get to work then."

"I see..." I say, "Well then, thank you for your time."
I bow and walk out of the city hall.

 

The trio start digging out a tunnel.

"Sure. We have plenty."

 

"No, I'm routing it away from the city." Ignia says.

 

"No... You're routing it towards a city, you ignorant demon." She says, getting a surge of confidence from Ignia's mistake.

 

"Well fine, I'll route it somewhere else," Ignia says, annoyed, "You know, maybe I should call off the rescue team and let the bandits loot your corpses."

 

"I'd rather die to bandits than a demon. At least my belongings would go to someone who isn't trying to spread Brisingr's fate across the world."

 

"I'm not trying to kill you!" Ignia shouts.

 

"Then why are you pulling the lava out of Brisingr?" She shouts back.

 

"So it doesn't overflow the cityful of people living there!" Ignia shouts.

"Ahem." A Shadow Soldier says, standing behind Ignia with a group of other soldiers, as well as a forest guardian.

 

"What do you mean? Brisingr's lost all their cities, and the draconians have an odd flying city!"

 

"There's still a city out there, though! One I'm trying to protect!" Ignia says.

"And you can go back to your job protecting it. We can handle the rest of this." The solider says.
