Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Abigail starts inspecting more of the golems.

"How did she die?" Stephanie asks.

 

They're all similar, and all equally lifeless.

"We're not sure; but Brisin legend said that the lands will fall to the core if she were to die; anyone left alive knows the implications."

 

I stand by, waiting for any questions I might ask.

Crystal approaches the bench, sits down, and smiles at Iruk.

 

"Why don't you leave here then?" Stephanie asks.

 

Iruk glances at Crystal.
"I was hoping the town would fare better than this."

"And go where?" They ask, a bit frustrated.
"We're stuck here. Darklands has its own mess, and everywhere else we're not welcome."

 

"But...this place is collapsing. I know the Darklands might not be the best place, but at least you stand a chance out there." Stephanie says.

 

"And do what? Compete for resources stretched thin there? They're at war right now, and we're in no condition to seat ourselves in the middle of it."

 

"Aren't there any other cities out there? Surely your trade routes must have sourced from somewhere!" Stephanie says.

 

"There's the Darklands and then there was Brisingr. We became a middle-man of sorts. Of course, there's nothing left now."

 

"Aren't there...other places? There's a whole world out there, surely someone's built another city." Stephanie says.

 

"Look, we're stuck here; that's the short of it. If there's another place that can sustain us, we still have the issue of getting there."

 

"Oh, right...sorry." Stephanie says, pulling her hood over her head so it's covered as she walks off.

 

"I-I'm sorry, miss... We're just all split between fixing now and knowing our next step."

 

Stephanie looks through the rest of the city, keeping her head low and covered.

 

Iruk and Ihra are at a park, draconians are living outside houses, none in great condition. The power plant is failing, and city hall clearly has no power.

 

"Yeah... It's really not looking good."
Pause.
"Well, we'll see what we can do, huh?"
Crystal asks, probably more enthusiastic than he should be.

Hearing the conversation, I walk over.
"Tough choice. Know what you're going to do, and you'll have a set, oriented plan. Do something now, and you're not wasting precious time. I wish you the best of luck."

 

Stephanie heads over to the power plant, curious.

 

"Yeah, of course."


"Thanks... you too."

It's starting to fall apart, a few workers trying to get a broken generator working.

 

Crystal gets up, trots over to Ihra, and curiously asks,
"Do you know what kind of flowers those are?"

I smile, nod, and trail after Stephanie.

 

"What does it use for power?" Stephanie asks quietly.
