This thread is in 2 parts. The first part is longer than the second.
This is a half rant, half praiss for mojang.

    Exploration Update: My View

    Cursed Enchantments
This was needed for a very, very long time. Just adding a possibility of getting something bad makes the anticipation 10 times scarier. Your best weapon is about to be enchanted. and then...! You get Curse of Vanishing.

    Observer / BUD Block
This was half good, half bad.
We didn't need a BUD block in the PC edition. But, at the same time, using so much BUDs at one time could be very unstable and using an item that is meant for that specific use will make it more stable and reliable.

    Shulker Shells / Shulker Boxes
This is, by far, the best feature in this update. We have needed a container that keeps NBT data for a LONG, long time. We have Enderchests, of course, but that stores EVERYTHING no matter what enderchest you open. These can store nbt data but ONLY for that box. Best part: It can be transported. I'll be interested to see what players come up with.

    Treasure Maps
This was a pretty nice feature, but it may be a bit too overpowered, but at the same time, I heard they buffed guardians and the Illagers are powerful.

    Woodland Mansion / 'Illagers'
This was pretty cool, especially since this is the first time we get to see villagers with armsin vanilla Minecraft. I think the mansion could be a nice endgame dungeon challenge. (At the same time, IMPROVE NORMAL DUNGEONS.)

    Llamas
This was I was half disappointed. Mojang is adding random animals into Minecraft. We have Sheep, cows, pigs, chickens, horses..... and then polar bears and llamas. What the heck ?

Now the second part of this thread.

    ADDONS
If you've been following Minecraft at E3 and Minecon, you probably know about ADDONS, the new "modding system" for Minecraft. It's a nice change, and I think will add some creativity to Minecraft. While I like these new features, why don't they get to come to the Java edition? I rarely play Pocket Edition, my desktop doesn't support Windows 10, and my Windows 10 laptop broke from a virus. Even if I play Pocket Edition, Mojang said it might only come to Windows 10, which makes it impossible for me to actually do anything with addons. Why is that happening? Why don't we get it in Java edition? Imagine what possibilities could happen with Wynncraft using addons. We could have better models and bosses, and tons, tons more! But no, Microsoft wanted to promote a pocket edition port and make people upgrade to Windows 10. That's Microsoft.

    Now thank you for reading.

The idea of what the llamas do is great (because who doesn't like using only one leash for a bunch of carrier animals), but do they really have to be llamas?

Honestly I feel a little disappointed. For the resources required to get the treasure map or find a Mansion, they have a pretty high skill level for some pretty bad loot. The only good things are the emeralds and two or three Totems of Undying. I tried the dungeon with iron armor, and it was difficult, and the chest loot tables were absolute shit. All I got were a bunch of chainmail armor and a fuck ton of seeds.

...and don't even get me started on the saplings.

EDIT: Also, I feel as if this mansion could be really great with a boss. Overall the Illagers were actually kind of boring; the Vindicator just straight up hits you, the Vex is really a minor annoyance, not really as challenging as they looked at Minecon. The Evoker was the only really cool one.
