Maybe it was a little scammy, maybe it was not. I gave him what he asked for, but I took 20le instead of 30le. Hey, chances like this don't come up often.

(Selling something that is grossly overpriced, tricking someone into buying an item that was not promised.)

No matter what price someone is willing to pay, if you know that they are willing to overpay for an item, and you sell it to them at a price that is significantly too high, it is scamming.

CTs are currently 4-5LE.

@IcyEdge , how much did you pay to Thunder for the CT?

 

The rules are always interpreted in different ways due to the vagueness of them. If you want to smite me, just look at all the other "scamming" posts in the trade market. I for one find mythics to be so overpriced that all of their prices should be reduced to one stack of LE just because. :D Also, take a look at those 2/4 level 8 Concentrations selling for 15-25LE. Isn't that considered scamming because of how low of a level they are?

The main point is how much one values their own emeralds. Some people consider 20le as pennies, while others consider it as quite a bit of money. Heck, even I overpaid a ridiculous amount for a Memento ( 1 stack le ;-; ) and I'm not really complaining about it. If someone is offering and willing to pay for an item for whatever price without first doing their research and getting different recommended prices, can we really say that the seller of the item is scamming the player? It's the players that control the economy, not the staff members.

If someone believes they should play 20, 30, or maybe a hundred LE for an item that doesn't really cost that much, who are we to judge?

Thunder, my friend, what part of our rule, or what part of what I stated, do you not understand? The market price is the market price. If it's too high or too low for a specific item, then the more experienced traders can have a hand in fixing it. However, to just try to excuse scamming someone with your argument that basically caveat emptor, is exactly one of the reasons that we have a rule against scamming.

There is nothing vague in this rule.

It's an open economy, and items will settle in to their own prices. As I said above, experienced traders can help adjust prices

Some people have more LE than others, and they can drive up the prices of items. That's part of an open economy.

Yes, we absolutely can! That is why we have a strict rule against scamming. We do not tolerate this at all.

Staff members are part of the economy; the admins set the rules, and moderators enforce them.

"We" are supposed to be the voices of reason and help. "We" are not supposed to scam other players, hurt them, and drive them away from the community. THAT is who "we" are.
