Hello, and welcome back to Featured Wynncraftian! For those new to the series, this is where us moderators interview notable players in the community. You can even nominate someone here, if you'd like.

These episodes will serve as a midseason finale, we will be taking a break for some time and gather interviews during this time and post them in a future date, more info on that later.

Now let's move onto who's being interviewed, this time around I am interviewing three content team members from the builder side of it, these guys build all the cities, towns and quest areas. They work very hard at what they do to make the server more interesting.

Without further ado, I present to you @Ackro @Imaxelius and finally @Headset_O answering some basic questions.

How long have you been building in Minecraft?

If we are to count the first build, which was a wooden house, that I ever dedicated time to, it would be about 2 and a half years ago. So, 2 and a half years.


When I first got the game back in... uhhh.. Somewhere around 2012 I just walked around and built random wooden boxes all over. After all these years, I'm finally a good builder! :D


I got into building as soon as I got Minecraft back in like, 2009, the first thing I did was throw away the whole survival thing and forget about that, go into creative and find the nearest cave to build a house in, made out of stone obviously. I later got into modern building, joined a server focused on that, went inactive after some time, joined another private team to help with a server which never took off and after some time I found Wynncraft.

What inspired you to start building?

Well, I joined Wynncraft soon after I got Minecraft. When I saw the buildings in Wynncraft at that time (which was back in early 2014), I was really impressed, and wanted to try and reach that point of skill in building. When the application system was released, it pushed me more to learn building, and now we're here.


Youtubers and let's builders were a huge inspiration! Wynncraft also inspired me quite a lot.


When I first got minecraft nothing really inspired me, I just did whatever I wanted and managed to improve, while building for the server I mentioned above the owner told us to check out a survival-building server, which is absolutely amazing, it has one of the best communities and the builds are just absolutely amazing and breathtaking, I still use that server for inspiration and I wish I could get myself to actually play on it more often.

What is your favorite town, city or quest area in the Gavel and Gameplay update?

My favourite new quest just has to be ???, since not only is it a community event, but a real challenge to do. I like challenges ;D My favourite town would have to be Pirate Cove (Pirate Town). I don't know, but it just has that very nice atmosphere.


Hard question... I love every place in Gavel. But If I had to choose, I'd choose Thesead and Eltom. I just love the looks of those towns and "The Hidden City" is an awesome quest that involves around both Eltom and Thesead which gives the player interesting lore.


Well, obviously Thesead is my favorite, however I really love the new Pirate Cove and Skiens, for me the best builds have messy layers, especially if you can get lost in them, it just makes everything feel alive. I also love Letvus, fight me.

Now let's move on to individual questions.

Where did you draw your inspiration from for the new Pirate Cove?

I actually took quite a bit of inspiration from Letvus Airbase. Now, I know that place is very confusing, but, I wanted to match the atmosphere slightly, and I feel like we did. It just feels like the atmosphere is somewhat "cozy", if that's the correct term. I do hope that Pirate Cove is not as confusing as Letvus Airbase is, which is also why we added the signs showing the way to merchants.

As someone who actively manages the bug reports on GitHub you have a lot of experience with fixing issues. Was there an issue in which at first it seemed easy to deal with, but ended up being very difficult?

Now, this'll seem like a very boring and easy issue, but I can tell you that I had to spend far much time than I anticipated. It was the issue of #5362, the "On'omi in Iron Heart II"-issue. It was about simply fixing a mob name that accidentally had a "^" (caret) in it, to make it an apostrophe. To fix that, I first had to find the mob file on our Github, and, of course, I search for the mob name from the game. Nothing. I then search for the area name, because the GM might've named the mob regions like that, but nothing there either. After that, I decided that I had to find who the GM that made the quest was, look through their profile, find the feed, look through the changes they made when they were working on the quest, and then I had to actually find this one file among the hundreds of changes. (Phew). About 30 minutes later, I managed to find the file, edit it, and then everyone was happy again!

Out of all the projects you have worked on, which was your favourite and why?

Honestly, I don't remember everything I made... I really enjoyed making the "Human" island or "Imposter Island" as people call it now. I had no idea people would discover it as fast as they did, but I was wrong! I really enjoyed making the houses in the hidden Goblin village. The style was something new I hadn't done before. It's really fun reading posts about the island and village :P Keep posting ;) I joined Wynncraft's build team on the 19th on June so I'm still relatively new here and haven't made a lot.

Were you on a build team before Wynncraft? If so, was it easier or harder than the work you do now?

Nope. I had this small group of people i built with but that's about it. :P
And I wouldn't say it's hard to build for Wynncraft. The only "hard" thing is to understand what Grian wants for his builds :P

Being one of the oldest members of the build team, you have obviously built many things for the Wynncraft map. Which one of your builds are you most proud of?

Since my terraforming isn't the best and my trees and such are the worst, I mainly focus on houses and styles, which means I actually came up with a lot of city styles, like the ones for Lexdale, Thesead, Cinfras and a bit of Ahmsord. Seeing those cities and knowing they are based on one of those small 10x10 houses I made off map makes me fairly proud. Also I love the builds I made on my own, like the Delnar Manor and the Molten Heights ruin and the Ternaves prison, especially since nobody knows why they exist ;D

Any trivia related to ??? that you can share with us?

It was pretty painful to work on ???, we had a lot of useless discussions, my favorite example would be the one about moving Mehme off map 2 days before the update, Lotem and I agreed that it would be a good idea and Tant argued against it, even though he previously said he didn't care.
