House Of Twain

so, given the nonexistence of a Ghost merchant, how does one get the ghostly cap for the House of Twain quest? or is the wiki just outdated? if so, please tell me what to do to complete this quest.

 

You have to borrow the cap from somebody.

Wiki is outdated, here is the most detailed instructions I can make:

1. Go to the 3rd floor of the mansion.
2. Find the master bedroom (opposite to the staircase to the old merchant) that has a diamond block on it. This is where you need to put your items.
3. If you turn around, you will see 3 item frames with items in it. You need to put these items in a hopper.
4. The quill and ingredient is on the 3rd floor. The quill is in a prison-sort of thing. You need to trigger the mob that drops the quill by entering it. The ingredient is in one of the rooms opposite to the staircase (other side).
5. The seed is outside. There is a exit near the staircase to the 3rd floor. You will need to walk around to trigger the mob.
6. Put the items into the hopper. A ghast thingy appears and the ghostly cap will be on the diamond block.
