Loot Chest Timers(bug)

(Sorry this is in the wrong section, but I don't have a GitHub account)

So I'm doing my normal loot run, getting tons of powders. I'm coming up on the cave with a tier III and IV. Suddenly, the phone rings. No big deal. I type /class so I don't get killed while afk. After answering the call, I go back on and reselect my class. I right click the chest, aand…nothing but a message, "You must wait another 12 minutes before opening this chest". Darn! The same goes with every other chest. Apparently doing /class has the same effect as a server switch for loot runs, even if you are on the same class. This is really annoying, not just for afking for a few seconds but for switching classes and you can't open the random loot chests you find. Is there any way to fix this?

Unfortunately, no. This happened on a 24 minute wait for me ;-; Just because I had to go to the bathroom.
I wish they would fix this already.

 

I don't remember doing /class and clicking on the same exact class 5 seconds later resetting loot chest timers before the update …

 

well it has always been like that, /class has always reset the loot timer

 

Well idk but it seems like a glitch since your using the same class.

 

A glitch would be a side effect, a bug is a mistake in the coding (probably wrong, but that's how i remember it) sorry for correcting :P
Anyways it is there because if you switch classes to camp at certain chests to get tons of items is not supposed to happen.

 

It is a glitch if you select the same class.

 

Did you try to open that chest before the /class ? Because, if you did, you would've gotten the same message.

 

No, I had been collecting all other chests fine, the timer changed after I did /class and reselected the same class.

 

I had that happen to be 3 minutes before the server reset... it said I had to wait 4 minutes...

 

It has happened to me many times but without /classing I've just come upon a random loot chest "you must wait X minutes to open this chest" *random player comes and snatches the chest I've been vigilantly guarding for multiple minutes*

 

Yeah, well, that's how it's supposed to be. You probably logged in a few minutes earlier.

Well, then I do believe this is something for Salted to look at.

 

I think you can just open the chest, and mobs apparently don't notice you, also a bug?

 

That could be a bug but it makes some (most in my case) impossible because of the power/amount of mobs around

You can always open a chest and AFK in there. Mobs will not attack you while you're in a chest.

 

When you log off, return to hub, or do /class, your loot timer is reset. This is done to prevent people having alt accounts at each tier 3/4 loot chest and looting the chests themselves without actually putting any effort in.
It would also be partly illegal as having more than the average classes would give VIP and VIP+ an advantage in the game, Violating Mojang's End User License Agreement (EULA)
However, I completely agree that this penalty should not apply if you return to the same class on the same server. Feel free to code it yourself.
