So in case you missed part one, this is my first multi-thread theory. It involves how Ohms can be both dead and alive through use of spirit magic and his golems, as well as how he could have learned said magic. Part one introduces the theory and explains how close Ohms lab is to the house of twain, the history, and all that stuff, and now this part explains why Ohms would want to learn spirit magic, and why Mael would teach him.

So I'm just gonna go ahead and tag @Selvut283 and @Oryx right now, since I'm probably gonna talk about them later anyway.

    Also! Selvut, Lusuco. Happy now?

    -------------------------

So let's address the elephant in the room first. In order for Mael to teach Ohms, they both would need to be alive. We know Mael was alive when the corruption started, and that took place at around 1004 years ago (give or take. I'm assuming we've been in Gavel for 1 year so far).

We have heard of certain people and creatures being alive for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. However, we are pretty sure Mael is human, and in the official Bob lore, they call 72 "ripe old age". As for Ohms, Selvut has made a VERY clear point of hiding both his age and race. And we never actually learn the life span of a villager. But if we want to assume they have the same life span of a human, there are still ways to extend life, such as magic and the special water in each province.

    ---

So assuming through various means, they were alive at the same time, why would Ohms seek out Mael, and why would Mael teach him?

Well for Mael, it's quite obvious. In the twain lore it SPECIFICLY says that Mael wanted to teach his art of spirit magic to at least one person before he died. And after that, the last page of the lore is torn, meaning there could have still been something written about who he taught. I mean, knowing Mael, he probably would not just die without doing that.

What about Ohms? Well, wether you find it surprising or not, we need to look at Gale first. We know for a fact that Gale chose to fight for Qira out of her own free will. But what about when she died? Looking at the twain lore we know the spirits of the dead are meant to "move on" unless the magic they were using or some other injustice has kept them bound to this world. So why is Gale not moving on? Is her spirit being held by Qira? Or is there some other reason that her spirit can't move on?

Ohms may know that Gales spirit is still there, and perhaps he thinks it's putting her in pain? Or perhaps he thinks he can save the spirit and put it back in her body, to bring her back to life? Ohms would have every reason to try to learn spirit magic for Gale's spirit if he thought he could help his lost lover.

Knowing he had the motive to learn, he could have defenetly used the power to move his spirit into his Golem in death.

Does that mean we may be seeing more of this spirit magic if Ohms thought other people?

    -----

Oh, one more thing. It's possible for Ohms to have learned even with Mael being dead. Mael left a Will, if you remember from this thread:

    https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/the-noble-house-of-twain.147195

To the "last honorary Twain". Now that could be the guy from the House Of Twain quest, it could be Ohms, it could be anyone. But I'm willing to bet it was not Ohms.

The library (which I am standing in in-game as I write this) is in Lusuco. Same area as Ohms' lab. People thought they heard noises behind the wall, that would be Ohms finding it.

You see how the page cuts off at Twai-?

Well, Ohms (assuming he found the library) could have torn the page out and used it to find that "honorary Twain". Which actually seems more plausible than them both being alive at the same time.

But why do I think Mael would give instructions about that spirit magic in his Will? Well because he wanted to teach someone. Am I making sense here?

Ohms finds library, tears out page about the last remaining knowledge about spirit magic, finds dude, learns,

    ---

    Anyway, that's for part 3!

Yeah, I have a super relevant thread to that supports more stuff about spirit magic, but I need to cut it off for now!

    Feel free to comment!

    --------------

Edit: not sure if relevant or not, but Twnedle is not actually a Twain like he tells you he is

    Bob?
"Robert began his journey further south; past the blizzards into a pocket of land he’d never seen on any map the bow symbol with the number “2” accompanying it. It was home to only one building, a large mansion, to which a man stood with his hands outstretched as Robert approached. Just like 5 years previous, Robert handed him the bow, to which he said “I am Mael, master of archery, let us begin, just as you progress, as does the war.” To which Robert spent a further 5 years mastering the art of crafting and firing arrows, in any situation and learning the magic surrounding the bow. In this time, Robert also learnt about the areas he trained in, Mael was incredibly spiritual; the mansion in which he lived in was also house to many spirits which found Mael to heal them. Robert learnt about the other side and how many of the fallen soldiers return cursed to fight on the other side, to which Robert secretly hoped he was able to communicate with his deceased mother. However, Robert never expressed these desires, and Mael told him the time had come to learn some magic that involved no physical weapon that you could hit people with."

I don't think that's what he meant. It sounds more like the citizen is in disbelief of what Twendle is saying. He could just be excited and telling the people about his "family's journal" which contains new knowledge to the citizens that you retrieved for him. The line "He's pretending he knows everything about the House of Twain, but the mansion has so many secrets!" and the use of the term "fairy tales" gave it away for me. Again, sounds like disbelief from the citizen over Twendle talking about the journal and the new knowledge from it, because the House of Twain has been so mysterious for so many years, and then you have Twendle coming along saying "Hey guys I just got the Twain journal!"

Good call on both points. I forgot that Mael taught Bob spirit stuff, I thought he only taught bow stuff. Hmm...

Also, I get what your saying about Twendle, but eh.

Wasn't the first throaty ripped to shreds by selvut? Seeing this as a part 2 would mean this thread is ripped apart by the same logic

Sorry, I did not realize you quoted him.

Anyway he said parts of it were wrong, sure. Which is why I had to change some stuff from the original theory before doing part 2.

I can't help but wonder how Ohms would have built a lab near Lusuco in the first place if he was of a race native to Gavel...

    Well, is he?

We really don't know if he's Human or Villager or what, as Selvut has made a VERY specific point of hiding that info.

I would say he either had to be a human who sneaked in through Johash docks or a villager who came from Gavel before the player got to Gavel. Because otherwise either the door is not open yet or the timeline would not work.

I was just pointing out that there aren't really any other civilized races in Wynn, unless you count the Squid people from Underice. So unless he's human, it's unlikely he's from Wynn.

He could very well be Human. Like I said, Selvut has been VERY specific about not giving out any info regarding race.
