Well, I'd use my build cause it suits my playstyle. If your asking for the "best" Mage build, it's probably a fatal build.

Well they don't always 1 hit me. Most of The time they don't. It would have to be like 350+ Thunder dmg. I 1 hit hem every time. I've beaten putrid and RemRin

When I activate courage they do like no dmg to me. If fatal was super fast attack speed it would easily be the best

I have been using Lunar Spine and try to main water damage and mana regen.

No idea for weapon, the only two good weapons I have are Blade of Purity and Bob's Mythic. I accidentally dropped my Tier 2 Tisaun's Proof in a hopper... so yeah.
My current build is just the best armor I can find, no thought put into it. I do put most of my points into Strength and Defense, though.

Would fenmask or third eye be better for this build(note i know this build is crappy af im just using it as a pve one until my archer hits lvl 100):

The best u can do is get more le then switch to lament. There aren't many cheap good spell dmg and water builds for lvl 96
