might not be... there might be another start that gives us a clue to the items we need to throw

..... Are you sure about that? Last time someone claimed that someone else completed ??? it was proven 100% false by the staff using the database or something like that. Who is this person's name?

.... That was the exact person I referenced when it was thought that he completed ??? but staff proved that he didn't complete it, at all.

 

Just going to use this thread to continue my ramblings, unlike some people I will be forthright with my findings. I still have not started investigating in game, currently level 77 and have plenty of quests to get to 80 over the weekend. I don't grind much mobs but I do kill everything in sight and since the last update I am gaining levels faster than I can do quests...which kind of sucks to be honest, I like the challenge of being the same level as the quest.

'DeliciousCakes' obviously was referring to the old ??? quest, when he posted that he completed it, he has not logged in to the game since the last update (or hadn't when he posted).

As far as the person under Yahya's house, people are spreading the word now that he has completed the quest, when all he has shown is a screenshot of a hallway, some people are so gullible. He claims to have thrown three items into Yahya's hopper, two of which just so happened to be the most popular speculated items. He does not want you to complete the quest, if he did he would tell you how he got in. In reality, being under Yahya's house does not necessarily mean the entrance is above it, and a hallway with quartz does not mean it is necessarily ??? quest related. It's quite possible he found an Easter egg or nothing and is trolling you, it's also possible that he was teleported there from somewhere else. As far as the two items he claims to have used....well....if he doesn't want you to finish the quest, and it's obvious he doesn't, he could very easily have just confirmed the most popular theory to keep you all headed in the wrong direction. Also, it's not a 'black spoon', the item is just a spoon, I went and picked one up last night. Personally I'd like to think the creator team is more original than most of you think, do you really believe there is a second quest to give Yayha regular mushrooms? I am skeptical. I would have laughed out of my chair if an ender dragon spawned when people gave him the spoon, I don't follow the lore that carefully but I still know that giving the evil crazy man a tool like that is stupid.....in terms of lore...I guess some just want to watch the world burn.

Might sound like I do not think Yahya is involved at all and that's not true, I just don't have any evidence that he is, and neither does any one else. I want to see a screenshot saying 'quest started' and then we will talk, if it happens to me, you will hear about it first. Simple fact is I'm excited about searching but I personally don't care about getting there first, and if there is parkour involved I won't be (LOL). When the quest is solved the reward should be available to everyone so I won't be in any rush, I just hope it's not another 'bob's tomb' because I prefer to work solo in game (once again, here for the challenge).

I think the quest start would logically be in a level 80 area.....that doesn't mean the quest won't take you to Yahya's house or anywhere else, it just means the trigger to start the quest is there, whether it be an npc or finding an area or whatever.

But the quest could also be like the previous ???, in which to complete the quest you just talk to the starting NPC. Just because the difficulty is medium doesn't mean there has to be multiple NPC's to talk to.

 

Of course that could be true, everything so far is all speculation, including what I have said, though I think this quest will be more complicated than the last....considering how fast the last one was solved.

I was just pondering something else. Of course the creators know that some unscrupulous types will probably try and use hacks or texture packs or whatever to their advantage, therefore it would make a lot of sense for creators to use teleporters, very useful for many things but in this case also useful for keeping things hidden. To clarify, as I said before a room under Yahya's house (or anywhere else) does not mean that the entrance is above it, and in this case I believe it would be advantageous for the creators if it wasn't.

The easiest way for them to hide the ??? quest would be for them to have the entire quest 500+ blocks away from the main map....keep that in mind.

 

I think we also need to remember that there were likely no command blocks used in the original quest, probably because they were unavailable or incompatible, you can bet they will have made full use of them this time.

Piston doors and hoppers are becoming 'old tech' pretty fast, a command block can check your inventory and add / remove items, so don't toss those horses and mythics at hoppers just yet.

I think a lot of people are chasing what they want the quest to be, and some are just fascinated by seemingly 'useless' things they find, and that's ok. The problem is that these are both predictable, and I wouldn't be surprised if the creators did exactly the opposite. Do you think they didn't know half the server would run to Yahya's house? Do you think that ??? was the only Easter egg added?

Keep an open mind people and happy hunting, just remember the facts and that is right now we have none, no one has found anything that can be positively linked to the new quest......yet.

 

More rambling.

I've seen some people making an effort to find the start of this quest, and I think that is great. I did not participate in the old ??? quest, but from what I've read, it sounds to me like cheaters solved it and spread the word, I am betting the creators have learned from this. I've seen a lot of people say that the old quest had no start and I find this hard to believe, there may not have been a starting NPC or quest book update but there were obviously clues. The fact that this quest is hyped as '100x harder' suggests to me that it has a start, I'd like to think so anyway.

The mechanical item was a great find, although it sounds to me like it was extremely lucky, there are most likely clues somewhere on how to get it, I think I'll wait before picking one up. I noticed the creators posted in that thread, did they confirm that it is ??? related? Could they? Would they? I don't know but they could be trolling.

I'm level 80 now, woohoo. The 'purple and blue' quest seemed to have clues all over it, and I am extremely suspicious of the wynn excavation team.

I have a disadvantage in that this is my first round of Gavel, and I don't know what may or may not have been added during the gameplay update, but since this quest is supposedly available to everyone previous experience is most likely not a requirement.
