    I got in the beta
    And this sp system is just as horrible as I said it would be
    I died with 7 SP cause I lagged out in the skeleton dungeon.
    Let's see what I lost...
    My tier II air powder
    Almost all my money
    My other dungeon key
    Some rotten flesh I don't care about
    and the mushroom I was saving to do mushroom man

    SEVEN SP

    And now I can't even play cause I'm at 5sp.

    I'm really not quite sure what the whole controversy over this is. Sure the concept itself involves losing your items, though I think it's way more fair and balanced than beforehand.

    It's only at 5 SP that happens, and at the point the player already has 15 soul points. So even if they died 5 times, they can still just wait for 20-40 minutes in game or wait an hour or two to play again.

    If you got that low before this, you'd have a 100% chance to drop your mythic.

    but now the same can happen at 5% and is completely luck based. i'd rather be able to blame myself for losing my valued items then blame a random number for losing my valued items. the problem is that there are essentially 3 less soul points, and with only 15 at max level it's hard to take a boss or rush a dungeon without having to wait an hour afterwards.

    As a beta tester I can say the system isn't bad, though I wish there was a gravestone mob that had your lost items.

    From what I'm hearing here the new system was designed to make a level playing field between people who keep track of their soul points and people who don't through chaotic RNG that seems to want to encourage massive risk taking with enticingly low chances. But nobody wants to play or would like to play with a % chance of eternal regret looming over them. If you want to make the game more challenging then weigh the difficulty on trying to succeed over a terrifying soft failure state or if you want to make dying a bigger deal then make SP have more wide spread value throughout the game. Having a system where people are at a baseline with only possibilities to make gains is fun for people, but this system will net you nothing but the exact opposite effect on players. The new powder system is a nice boon that ups the difficulty in exchange for benefits, but this system is a net negative and people could go for nearly anything else that increases the difficulty, even waiting for another update(i.e Finding a way to more mobs more tactical as the game progresses, js.).

    Bottom line: Challenging to achieve success state > Extremely crippling failure state.

    This. This is the reason I'm still on the fence about this change. If a player loses their mythic, and complains on the forums, are you gonna respond "It was a .3% chance, so it's your fault for being unlucky."
    But honestly, most responses would be "Your fault for playing below 5SP,"

    Completely unrelated to that last point, in the current game, you're forced to AFK at 2 SP, with the new update, you'd have the risky CHOICE of not AFKing at 5 SP.

    The thing is, people don't play wynncraft for the challenge. They play to explore new places, dungeons, npcs and items. This new soul point mechanic limits the amount of exploration players can do, the amount of fun they can have and the amount of time they can play. It adds to the number of lost items, which means more salt and less players overall. It doesn't matter that Wynncraft was 'easy' before because that's not what it's really about. I guess a system like this is nice, but this is way too heavy. You shouldn't lose mythics / legendaries based on chance, and even with emeralds you shouldn't be losing more than an le at once.

    Wait, so I imo I think the new sp system is a good idea. Just fill me in on this, has the sp bug been fixed? The one where you die and lose 5+ sp instead of 2.

    Also, a lot of ppl are saying that losing mythics and legendaries sucks. I haven't read the other 3 pages of responses to this thread but it's relatively simple. Why were you holding that mythic m8? When I get a mythic (I haven't gotten one) I would instantly tp back to a bank. Also, I'm not sure about this but wouldn't the mythic drop? So if you spawn near, you could just ran back and grab it before despawn.
