    So as the update is now officially out, I'm sure most of you have thought about the new Soul Point idea!


    I want to know your opinions and feedback, but please keep it friendly and calm!

    Well, as long as nothing valuable goes away until five, I'm fine. I've only ever gone down to five or less once or twice throughout all the time I've played, and I rarely die at all nowadays.

    Then again, due to mob buffs/changes, dying will be much more common, which worries me when paired with the Soul Point changes.

    True, though there are some rare moments when I do a lot of /kills to get back to a town and I usually drain fast.

    I hate this new system with a burning passion. It's going to make the game more frustrating and punish us for doing nothing wrong, and force us to wait longer than before. There is no reason that this system should have been changed, and this version is worse than what we have now. It should never have been changed.

    It literally adds nothing though. All it does is make you more likely to LOSE stuff, not GAIN. What about that sounds appealing?

    You have to keep in mind, what about players who find themselves stuck? On their last 9 sp? That's just a killer.

    You should probably add a poll for this, since this seems like the kind of topic that seems up for debate and loads of opinion. (I know you can add polls to existing threads, I think.....)
    I know there's already a thread in the Wynncraft section by @FlamingPinecone , but I feel the SP revamp debate would fit here, since that's what this section was made for....

    It'll also probably allow for more easier feedback for the CT, since as Pretzule said on the other thread concerning soul point revamps:
    But as Pretzule also said, lets also give it a try, and if the general public seems to hate it, then I'm sure they'll probably change it or something in a post-update patch.

    I personally dislike it, but I'm sure we'll get used to it. A lot of MMORPGs are like this, and I'm honestly surprised it wasn't added sooner. I agree with what Salted said about using /kill for quick travel, and the fact that there was hardly a penalty for using /kill wildly.

    Despite this, there is one issue. There are many random spots, which I can't name currently, where something is wrong with the map or you get trapped and are forced to /kill. I don't want to be punished for getting stuck in a map issue. When this stuff happens, the response is usually to use /kill to get out. An example of this was when the new Wynn Excavation quests came out. I was on the final stage of Amadel, and the server restarted. I came back to another server to have myself stuck in the flatworld. I talked to a moderator, and they told me to use /kill to get out. I told them that I'd rather not have to restart the quest, and they told me that they couldn't do anything about it. Continuing from that, let's say you have 3 soul points. You get stuck due to an unaccounted error in the map or something of the sort. You're forced to use /kill and in the process you lose your amazing Mythic item, a large amount of emeralds, and your epic maxed Spectre. RIP.

    That's the only real problem there is, unless of course these areas have been patched and/or there is already a solution to this which I am unaware of. Then it would render my large paragraph redundant. Woops.

    The new soul point adds some more risk to the game, it can make things more challenging. The new system seems more interesting than the old "I'm under 3 soul points, time to afk!"

    I think that people only read that you can drop items at any soul point level, and are ignoring the important points.
    • Nothing of value is lost when over 5 soul points
    • You will never lose a horse on death.
    Sure, you can lose a lot of junk items and some emeralds, but you wont lose your mythics or legendaries unless your soul points get under 5, and you are really unlucky.

    Here are some numbers:
    15 Soul Points - 0% chance to drop IDed items
    9 Soul Points - 0% chance to drop IDed items
    5 Soul Points - 3% chance to drop IDed items
    3 Soul Points - 10% chance to drop IDed items
    1 Soul Point - 16% chance to drop IDed items

    Even when you die at 1 Soul point, you have a decent chance of keeping your good items. Your items are also not completely lost, they are dropped around you, so if you are in a party to kill a boss, your friend can pick up your lost items to give back to you.
    You also can't drop quest or untradable items, so you wont lose those identified quest rewards.

    Items dropped are now spaced out over multiple deaths, instead of losing everything when you die at 2 souls. There is a surprising amount of new players have contacted support because they died at low souls. The new system teaches players they can and they will lose items if they die too many times, instead of suddenly losing all items when they least expect it.

    In the old system, you used to be able to die around 7 times without consequences, and it seems a little unbalanced. When you are mid-high level (past 50), you are usually going to stay above 10 soul points unless you are doing a boss or going into a higher lvl area unprepared. A lot of people obviously don't like the RNG aspect of the new system, and it will take a while to get used to.


    The new system isn't as bad as everyone says it is, I actually like the new system.
    Salted probably worded the changelog poorly, so please don't hate on it if you haven't tried it.

    I get a distinct feeling people will now double their afk limit from 3 SP to 6 SP so they don't risk losing valuables, thus increasing the total time people afk, and decreasing the actual time they play the game.

    In summary: "I'm under 6 soul points, time to afk!"

    Even so, I still think we can get used to it. I do like that it adds more of an MMORPG feel to Wynncraft.
