Media New Sp System Poll

Well, in the recently posted 1.14.1 changeblog, it was revealed that the Soul Point system was to be changed in the update. There has already been a debate over this subject particularly. The reason I am creating this thread is just so I can see how the community stands on this overall. I am not looking to change the Team's minds or anything like that. Its just a social experiment, bruh c;

 

Testing this feature was pretty fun, spamming /kill and seeing what dropped.

 

I want to remind people that the update isn't even out. Try it out first and if it really is horrible I'll let the admins know about it so we can go back, but really please just try it out first.

 

as i've already said in my post on the thread, what about people that are below 5sp and get stuck in a block or something? doesn't sound very fair to me

It's basically just a new SP minimum for risk-haters. If you're stuck in a block at 5 sp, just wait until you have 7 or something.

 

personally, i'd rather not wait an hour to just end up killing myself

 

and now it discourages using scrolls to travel since they take soul points too, bringing you ever closer to 5sp.
I fail to see how this system will improve the game AT ALL

The problem was that sp was either completely irrelevant or way too punishing. They sorta fixed it???

 

Well, personally, I think its just going to be a hassle. At 5sp, you don't lose much, but of course, it gets progressively worse. Despite bring level 84, I manage to die A LOT especially because I am a tank with low movement speed and the need for constant healing. But honestly, its an interesting concept, and like Pretzule said, we have to try it out first. Also, I'm thinking the new powder abilities are going to help me survive longer, so there's that.

 

by making it constantly punish you for travelling in any way other than horses/normally walking? And by making it punish you for getting stuck in walls which is a SERVER ISSUE and not our fault?
I don't see how this fixes anything.

 

Hard to say at the moment, since the changelog was a little vague concerning when equipment is dropped. Does equipment still have a chance to drop, even with all soul points? I'm still unsure until this is answered.
If so, it will ruin boss fights. There would still be a slim chance that you could lose a piece of equipment that is necessary to defeat a boss, and it would be a bad system.
If not, then I would like it, as it still adds an incentive to not die rather than simply shrug it off, and added with the fact that it punishes you hard enough if you die too much consecutively.

 

Don't forget airships and now the SeaSkipper. Scrolls are now a lot less necessary than before Gavel.
