"The less time I have to spend eating, the better. You could ask the alchemists in the back if you insist on trying this crap."

 

"Thank you." Helianthus says, looking around for the Alchemists.

 

There's a line leading to a counter, odd wisps of color and unsettling aromas coming from the other side.

 

Helianthus goes to the line and asks one of the people there, "Is this the line to get those rations?"

 

"Yeah, it is. If it's your first time, they'll give you a bag or two. Nobody ever keeps it down their first time." They groan, clearly dreading what they know is coming.

 

"Can I request for more? Like say, fifty bags? These could really be useful for my stronghold."

 

Their jaw drops.
"The hell did I just hear you say?! NOBODY wants more of this! We only eat it because we have no better choice! Unless you like eating rotten, spongy dirt, keep eating whatever you have been before you worked for Mistress!"

 

"Ah, so must I continue eating dried, potentially poisonous monster guts scavenged from a war-torn wasteland?" Helianthus says, getting in line.

 

"That's what these practically are, hold the poison... usually."

 

It screeches at the magma, before trying to freeze it with the lightning.
The ice starts to break up, but quickly reforms where the whirlpools aren't.

"Sorry... this... ugh... just... keep... trying..."

Enqo smirks.
"I wonder if you're creating the gas..."
He goes to the nearest slime... and picks it up.
"You'll do nicely."
He then walks into the elevator, still holding the slime.

 

"So, no problem if I've been eating this for a while already. This would be extremely useful for when we can't find anything to scavenge or hunt."

The slime seems perfectly fine with it. The elevator doors close, and Enqo descends into the second floor. The elevator doors open, revealing rubble and smoke everywhere.

 

The reaction time isn't quite enough; it melts through part of the dragon's body before it manages to freeze it, leaving a spike of scorching hot rock in its body.

"What's happening? Are you okay?"

"You're insane... Try not to scare the alchemists with your words." They mutter, glaring at you.

The line seems to be moving at a decent pace. The draconian you're talking to is about halfway to the front of the line.

 

"What do you mean scare them?"

 

"Nobody wants these rations. Literally eating dirt and monster guts tastes better than this crap. Don't startle them with your words."

 

Ice seems to form over the hot rock, cooling down its temperature. It also stops any bleeding.
It tries to slowly creep towards the island, freezing the surface with lightning as it goes

"Fine... haven't... used... this much... magic in a... while..."

"Wonder what happened here."
He slowly picks his way through the rubble, tripping several times.
"If you ever become a ghost, don't become this kind of ghost", he says to the slime.

 

A tidal wave crashes over the dragon, freezing as it goes.
"You're not escaping death without an explanation!" Keila shouts, Rina poised to take a shot at the dragon with her lance.

 

"What is it made of anyways?"

The slime just bubbles.

As Enqo turns around a corner, he finds a horrifying sight. The wqlls are covered with blood. Only then does he realize that the toxic gases were only at the upper levels. A cry for help echoes amongst the screams.

 

"That's a question for the alchemists. And that'd probably surprise them; I don't even know if the stuff they put in that crap even has a name."

 

"Alright then." Helianthus says.

Stephanie begins casting a spell from her tome; the pages in it looking a little darker coloured than usual. As she casts the spell, she gently throws my voodoo doll upwards, which seems to float in the air as various black runes start surrounding it and rotating gently. Black fog starts to fill the ground around Rineth, and a sense of dread and fear fills the air.
