Spell Damage

i was playing wynn this morning and i had to chose between 2 weapons.
i am wondering if the attack speed has effect on the spell damage.

just a example what would be better for spells?

spear 1
verry fast attack speed
50 to 100 dam

spear 2
slow attack speed
100 to 200 dam

 

No, the default Attack Speed on a weapon does not affect anything else other than the speed it attacks at.

 

Attack Speed is a factor in your damage calculation, it is to allow the weaker base damage Fast Attack Speed Weapons to deal the same damage as the stronger base damage Slow Attack Speed Weapons. Basically they are trying to find the DpS of the weapon and use that for the spell damage calculation

 

Right now there is a glitch where the attack tier only effects how fast the weapon looks like its swinging, but still does the same dps, right now all it does is stack with spell damage, the slower the weapon and higher your attack tier speed the more spell damage you will do, but this is a glitch and will be fixed soon

Actually it does.
For Example, a Super Fast weapon would have a 4x spell multiplier, and a Normal weapon would have a 2% spell multiplier. Otherwise, Super Slow weapons would be extremely OP, and Super Fast weapons would be useless

As for the actual question posed, I'm pretty sure Spear one would do more spell damage, but I'm not sure

Also, how would it make Super Fast weapons useless?

 

Talking about default attack speed, because weapons with a higher attack speed deal lower damage per hit, if they didn't take attack speed into account, Super slow weapons, which have the most damage per hit would deal much higher spell damage than super fast weapons. For example, Weathered deals around 325 damage per hit, barring natural boosts from Agility and the weapon itself. Alkatraz deals 2000 damage per hit, again barring boosts from Strength and the weapon itself. If we were to just put in the natural damage into a theoretical spell that does, say, 200% damage, and not factor in attack speed, then Alkatraz would be dealing 4000 damage for every use of the spell while Weathered would do 600 damage. However, this doesn't happen because the spell damage is nerfed or buffed depending on the attack speed the weapons have

 

I understand why this is, but I would like to know where this information comes from. I haven't seen it on the site or even the Wiki.

 

This one would be better for spells. Slow weapons tend to cast spells slower (like if you get the combination in and it doesn't cast).
