Helianthus attempts to steal an ability from the guard.

"Good luck. Don't stray too far off the path."

 

"Alright, thank you."

At least night vision is finally helpful...

 

"Helpful, but not the one I'm looking for." HH thinks aloud, and then steals another ability.

 

It seems you were a bit careless...
You hear sizeable footsteps coming your way.

 

Helianthus looks around to see the source.

 

Xlentia looks cross as she turns the corner, gazing directly at you.
"Try not to randomly steal here. We're all on the same side; plus I hate it when I win that lottery."

 

"Ah, my Misstress. I deeply apologize for troubling you with my antics. I was merely attempting to find an ability to teleport." Helianthus says, kneeling down on one leg and keeping his head bowed.

 

She winds a spectral string around you.
"This is a one-time trip back to where you're standing, lest your situation should go south. Now, I don't want to be woken again today."
She turns around and walks back to her hoard.

 

Helianthus gets up, bowing again as a sign of gratitude.
"Well then, that should be all I need." He says, before proceeding to draw his sword and cast a spell of light on it. He then walks to the entrance of the palqce to see if he can see the path.

 

The path, though dark, seems to float in the middle of a tangled mess of structure and creatures.

 

Helianthus walks along the path, sword held like a torch and his crossbow out and primed in case anything gets too close to him.

 

Thousands of eyes watch, but none budge.

The path seems to curve quite a bit.

 

Helianthus continues along the path, making sure to watch carefully to make sure he doesn't go out of the path.

 

It's not well maintained, but it has a scale-pattern on it as you go.
...Mistress definitely has an ego.

You can't even see the palace at this point, but your surroundings are dizzying. You feel what you think are millions of eyes watching you, many likely waiting for a mere misstep.

 

Helianthus stops walking, and then looks at the eyes.

"Heavens! It would be such a such a shame if I accidently misstepped!" He taunts.

 

A wave of growls, a bit of laughter, and a few roars come in response.

They all keep watching, waiting.

 

"I have a joke for you all!" Helianthus yells, "What happened to the man who strayed from the path?"
He leaves a dramatic pause for a second or two.
"He died!"
