My Opinions On The Recent Community

Disclaimer: This IS a rant. I am in no good mood.

Hi all,

I am not trying to start a flame war, I'll try to put this in a civic way. I am also not stating that our community is trash. Just going to state what's in my mind. The community still has plenty of awesome and kind people. But recently, the community has become a bit rude and hostile.

Recent Scenarios: (I am not going to call anyone out.)

Disrespect Towards Staff/Admins.

People have called mods "lazy assholes" and "Corrupt". Really? C'mon now. They put effort into modding or making the game. Everything they have done is for us, the players. Mods make sure there isn't people to ruin our enjoyment. Keep in mind they are volunteering, not getting paid. So there's really no need to say that they're lazy. They have a life too. And for the "corrupt" part, I don't even know where you get that from.

Being Rude to Others

Some people have had their feelings hurt. Now I understand nobody is obligated to be nice to someone, but I am not talking about being nice. I am talking about respect. Everyone is obligated to respect one another. If you don't agree with someone, you can disagree respectfully or even just keep quiet, which may be the best thing to do.

Saying that Wynncraft Sucks in a very Rude Way.

Now is is very controversal. But this is just my opinion. If you wanna say that a game sucks, don't say that it sucks. Talk about how it can be fixed or made better. If your putting a thread In General Suggestions saying that Wynncraft sucks, it's not a suggestion, but a complaint or even an attack to Wynncraft. Also, if you wanna leave Wynncraft, do it respectfully. Theres no need to bash the game before you leave. People are more than welcome to state how Wynncraft lacks in a polite way. Not an accusatory way. Don't need to slam the door when you exit a room.


Now you may be thinking: "Reisuke you are 2negative4me. All you did is address the problem and complain about our community being toxic while you are a part of it. Maybe you should think of a solution."

Well, I am sort of complaining. But I do have some ideas of how to further redeem our community.

1. Change in Attitude

As @Whimsy-Chan said, change comes from within. Attitude adjustments can really improve a community. For example, a certain person could maybe start appreciating the moderator's time and dedication instead of thinking they are lazy.

2. Understanding the Fine Line between teasing a bullying

Idk, if there is bullying here. But this could help. Friendly teasing is all lit, it's just a way of joking and having fun. However, I think it's helpful to know when it is getting to be at someone's expense and when it is getting out of control. Also, if someone isn't a fan of teasing, it's a good idea to stop before feelings are hurt and relationships are damaged.

3. Enforcing Rules Better

Alright... I am in no way, shape or form saying that mods are not doing their job. They do a fantastic job. I am suggesting that since some people push the limits of the rules, rules can be enforced better. Especially, the "Respect Everyone" rule. That way, people don't have an excuse for misunderstanding the rules. Private conversation warnings can be given to members who the mods feel are pushing the limits and being rude/disrespectful.

Now I am aware that this is the internet and it's not perfect. But I think its worth giving it a shot to try and improve our own community.

To conclude my "rant". I am gonna restate that I DO NOT think that our community is shit. I just think it could use some work. Seeing people get insulted and disrespected is no pleasing thing. Especially staff being disrespected.

Compared to a lot of other communities I've been in, this one is probs the least hostile.

 

I see your new here! Welcome! The fact that it's the least hostile makes it more worthy to be kept not hostile.

 

I mean... As bad as it might this is one of the best communities I know, and also, just because a few members are toxic and do bad shizzle doesn't mean the community sucks.

 

I specified twice in the thread that I am not saying that the community sucks.

 

I just found my way of ignoring all the bad stuff as it does not bring anything good to me... I just skip over those threads.

If we want to improve this place, then maybe we shouldn't call this place "shit" all the time because calling this place "shit" won't change anything other than you acting toxic, of course, it's good to get people to notice if something hostile has been brewing up like what Flubby did but constantly categorizing the entire 100% of the Wynncraft forums into cancerous shit and thinking you're not part of the problem won't make things any better, this is why I try and counter this "unnecessary pessimism" because it'll probably create some sort of circlejerk based upon thinking this entire place is trash, and thinking that you're exempt from this toxicity and constantly call this place shit like you're the only non-toxic person here on these entire forums.

I see stuff like "this community is shit :'''')" sometimes with hardly any evidence on why it's shit and they act like they're not responsible for anything toxic, when 50% of the time they're the ones responsible for toxicity and the other 50% of the time they spew overreactive statements on just how "toxic/cancerous/trash" these entire forums are when to be honest that toxicity is mainly just some SB drama, the occasional flame war, rare behind-the-scenes drama, and the extremely rare corrupt staff/CT members, of which we've hardly ever had bad staff/CT members, except for only 2 cases. (GoodVibes/Snowing)

Stop loathing yourself and others here because it won't make anything better if we keep calling ourselves trash, and maybe if we actually do the opposite, then things we'll be better, please do keep this in mind before yet again making dorito faces in the SB and calling this place shit, think positively for once.

Yes, we're not perfect, I know, I know we can be hostile and a little toxic, and I'm not saying that we should hide the problems and let them get worse, but overestimating this hostility/toxicity into something huge and creating shitty circlejerks around this "giant" hostility/toxicity won't make things better. Because while Flubby's thread was an important PSA on the problems, admittedly, as I've mentioned, Flubby did overestimate the problems and lacked evidence on certain topics like the Staff, if we stop overestimating the problem and make it worse by loathing ourselves, maybe we'll improve.

(And besides, like 75% of the actual hostility happens in the damn Shoutbox, just be glad that not all of that transferred to threads)

 

I am not loathing on anyone or thinking that I am not part of the problem. And I clarified in the thread that I am not saying the community is shit. I do actually agree with you that this thread is useless. It's just my opinion. Also, I absolutely agree that being pessimistic wont help. I wasn't trying to be pessimistic maybe I conveyed the wrong message. If i did, then it's my fault. But why are you assuming that I am loathing and thinking that I am not a part of this problem?

 

Finally a positive rant which isn't just someone bitching around on a certain thing and doing nothing about it, I personally think that the only problem is disrespect to staff members from players and even disrespect from certain staff members to players, Which there isn't really a lot to do about but report about such situation as fast as possible, Of course that there are a lot of people being rude to others (Still a small precentage of the community), But we can't do anything about it so there's no reason to complain about it, Some people are just born assholes, Maybe right now how about we do this thing called "Playing the game" instead of seaching for drama everywhere eh?

Do not worry, I do agree with you and approve of this thread, I forgot to state that on my post....

I'm not saying that you are calling this place shit, nor are most people here, I'm mainly talking about the few members that stay here just to call this place shit in an overestimative fashion without evidence, causing circlejerks to be made based on these "factual" statements only making the problem worse.

And as I've already said, I'm not saying were perfect as we are right now, nor should we hide the problems and allow them to get worse, but making it seem worse than it actually is won't help, pretty good rant OP.

I honestly don't understand half the drama in this community.
I mean, come on, guilds?
People are quitting over GUILDS?!
I don't understand all the guild drama, they don't affect the game at all so I don't get why people get so worked up about them, and even quit because of them.

 

What, people even quit cause of guilds? I dunderstand.
And is there even "drama" of guilds? I've never seen one of those "dramas".. I think.

 

Could someone enlighten me about what happened to the 'community'... I feel like I am missing out on something since I literally have no idea why any of these threads/"inside" comments are appearing..
Preferably in a conversation so that people won't get t-t-trig- You know the rest.

If it's about guilds from previous posts, try and look at a majority of players instead of a minority (saying that minority is toxic)
