    Hello! Just a little question.

Is it considered necro-posting if you bump your own thread (from months before)? Just for future reference :)

    Thanks.

Yes, because its not bringing relevant content back, it's just saying "bump" and making your thread get more publicity (and probs some ppl arguing about necro).. probably xD

Necros are OK if it's your own thread.

Any necropost is all right, as long as that very post is contributing towards a subject that is still relevant. However, saying "Chocolate sticks" in a thread from last year won't do you much good.

Threads die out for a reason, don't they? Usually, they become irrelevant, or they lose support. If a thread becomes irrelevant, there is no reason to bump it, whether or not the OP thinks it's irrelevant or not. If a thread dies out because there is no continuous more support for it, if no one continues to pay attention to it, then it should goes away and gets buried in the forums. If someone then comes along, the OP or not, and reposts in it, just to revive it, when there is nothing new to add of substance, why should it stay open? Why let it push other threads out of view? It's as bad, in my opinion, as someone coming along and just randomly posting in an old thread; it serves no real purpose. So, yes, posting in your favorite old thread just to keep it visible, when it is an irrelevant post, whether you, the OP, believe it is or isn't irrelevant, is necroposting.

If you wanna do it without getting in trouble, there's a 1-month thing before it's a necro.

    That is not the case.

You can still necro your own thread if you do not have anything to add to it.
The OP can still request for an unlock on their thread by pming a mod though.
