Build Inspired By Grain's Tutorial

This took me a whole night and a whole morning, about 5 hours to build. I'm relatively new to this field in Minecraft. Hope you like it.

This is inspired by Grain's windmill tutorial, big thanks to Grain. Awesome videos on Youtube.

I also did some landscaping, fix lakes, cover ravens, it's the easy part. The detailing took me a while, didn't know what can I do to detail the structure, so it doesn't look like a giant block of stone with a big chunk of wood on top. I was still adding some leaves as wines while I took the screenshot, so be aware of that.



Update: The final build after everyone's suggestion. Can't be bothered to expand the field, just too much work.

 

Great work! The only conplaint I have is that the field is a bit too small for such a big windmill in my opinion, and the wood at the lower Levels doesn't reall fit the build

 

You mean the render distance or the base is too small?
Yeah, the lower level balcony should be darker.

I really like the concept of how it's built. :o I do feel like it has a bit too many leaves, even in the screenshots you provided, so I'm a little curious on how many you did end up putting on there. It is a nice touch, just make sure not to overload it. :) I do agree with Ascended Kitten also, if you wish to put more wood to the base of the windmill, try adding a few more of the blocks that are seen/used on the house. It will allow for a full flow through of the materials you have used. ^-^

 

I think the windmill itself looks very nice so good job on that! And I agree, the crop field should be bigger

 

You mean like hay bale, wood table like that?

 

More like the raw oak mixed in with the planks; it will help 'darken' the area a bit, so it's not appearing like a highlighter mark on a page so to speak. :P You have the right palette, all that's needed is to spread it more evenly. The raw wood gives the impression of structural support, and may do wonders down the bottom also. ^-^

I still feel like there's too many draped leaves after you posted the updated one, but you certainly did well taking the palette drag advice. :D

 

It's great, but - is that a house on top of the tower? Why would you need that there, it's a windmill ;-;
Also, Using stone for the major part of the tower seems a bit bland, maybe try giving it some more detail by adding patterns with different wood blocks.

I dont really think its inspired,
It looks more like exactly copied with some leaves

 

It barely looks copied Mouse. The sails have probably been used, but the original windmill video Grian had made was out of neat stained clay. This is an inspired build and they have every right to say so. Please stop pointing fingers at people for copying Grian, as I've said before in another post you have commented like this on, his videos are made to inspire people to utilise aspects and techniques of that video to make their own cosy build. There is no need to instill negative comments where they are not needed.

Alas, neither was I ranting on you. I'd just like to point it out that instead of saying someone copied another, give them proper criticism and without doing so in a rude manner.
He was giving a build a go drawn from inspiration of Grian. He doesn't deserve the comment he had received.

This is the last comment I will make on that, as this place is for critique and compliments of the build, not negativity.
