Yuno's Easy Recepies #1

well hello there! yesterday I jokingly suggested making a cooking thread and it seemed a lot of players wanted to see it. so here it is.
today's recipe is majadera (rice with lentils and fried onions)
you will need:
2 cups of lentils, can be black/green or brown (I recommend a mix of all three)
1 cup of rice (Persian rice works the best)
water
cooking oil
turmeric (to taste)
salt (to taste)
a big onion

first step
first things first you'll need to put the lentils in water for at least 2 hours (can let them soak overnight)

Spoiler: why do we soak the lentils?

raw lentils cause gases and other digestive problems so letting them soak gets rid of those nasty side effects

second step
get a small pot (not that small) and put a thin layer of oil on the bottom and heat it up
while the oil is heating up chop up the onion
fry the onion until it looks golden brown on all sides, spread salt over the onions.
third step
put the cup of rice over the fried onions and stir until the rice is soaked in oil
fourth step
add the lentils and pour water about 2sm above the rice and lentils (just under an inch for you americans)
add salt, a teaspoon of turmeric (both amounts can be changed according to taste)
stir
bring the water to a boil and lower the flame, cover the pot.
fifth step
wait for 30 minutes or until the rice absorbed all of the water and turn off the flame.

the majadera can be eaten as a main course, side dish or with yogurt.
