Wynncraft: The Gameplay Update: Changeblog #2 [revamps]

Disclaimer: The update isn't yet done, some of the stuff we talk in this thread aren't yet finished. So keep in mind there is a chance some of them don't make it on the first day of the update.

Alright, let's get going.

Like with every update, we are revamping some old stuff that got outdated with time. However, we changed a LOT of things on this one. Most of it is in Wynn, as Gavel doesn't suffer from as many outdated features.


Towns

A lot of towns got changed up in this update. Some of them didn't got touched, others got completely redone!

It goes from small stuff like opening up the market in Almuj...

... to simply bulldozing a town and redoing it, like in Jungle Village...

... or Pirate Cove (aka Pirate Island)...


We didn't simply changed the builds, we've also added some new NPCs and shops...

We've tried to add more depth to towns, to make them more interesting and unique. We hope you all like them. You guys should also definitely go see the new Rymek when it comes out, it's easily my favourite revamped town in this update.


General Revamps

We've of course worked on other stuff than towns. We've changed so much stuff that I can't list them all here, so instead, here's some of my favourites...

Adding elevators everywhere in the mesa to go up and down as you wish...

Making scroll shop sell lower level town scrolls, at a higher price...

How about allowing players to reset their skill points anywhere for only 2 Soul Points?

My favourite is this new boat you might see a lot from now on. They call it "V.S.S. Seaskipper". I'm sure you all know what it does already.

Man, Skiens Island sure changed since last time!

Items

Now I wish I could make a full changelog about the item changes, but it would take way too much time. Just know that we buffed most of the legendaries, and nerfed the Jester Set so it's less abusable (but still useful). Oh, we've also added some new mythics and about 300 items.


Quests Revamps

When quests came out, Wynn used to be 100% grinding. At the time, anything new was amazing. Well, not anymore. Some of the old quests are now very outdated... so we've redone them. You won't have to complete them again, except for Potion Making and Underice.

Here's the list of updated quests, the amount of stars shows how much we changed them:
- ***Temple of the Legends (less grindy, different story)
- **Ice Nations (reworked towns)
- **Stable Story (reworked whole quest)
- ***Underice (quest redone from scratch, will need to be completed again)
- *Jungle Fever (less back and forth)
- **The Passage (less grindy, different goal)
- **A Confused Farmer (less back and forth)
- *Zhight Island (better reward, less back and forth because of the Seaskipper)
- *Bob's Lost Soul (easier to find depressing items, Nesaak mobs drop them)
- *Prison Story (story changed a little bit)
- *Cook Assistant (easier to find the ingredients in Katoa)
- *Underwater (better ending)
- *Lord of the Clock (added a quick tp out of Mt Wynn)
- *Cluck Cluck (reworked arena)
- *Wrath of the Mummy (reworked arena)
- **The House of Twain (reworked how you get the helmet)
- **Beneath the Depths (reworked the skull cave)
- *Lost in the Jungle (story changed a little bit)
- ***Potion Making (quest redone from scratch, will need to be completed again)
- ***??? (more info about that one coming soon!)


Loot/XP Revamp

I'm sure you guys didn't see that one coming.
Now, a lot of you were asking for more quests in this update. We got those, of course, but we also decided to look into WHY people want so many more quests. Why are players only using double XP bombs on quests? Why is everyone only talking about quests? Well, after throwing a staff of twenty researchers at the problem (we didn't really do this), we realised that the issue was that quests are just too good. So we've made these changes...

Mobs now give up to 3-4x more XP
You probably won't notice a difference in the lower levels, but as you progress, you'll see that mobs now give
MUCH more XP than before.

Mobs now drops up to 2-3x more items than before
Same with the XP, lower levels should be unaffected. In the late game though, you should
see a lot more items when killing mobs. The only tier unaffected are mythics and sets.

Quests XP Changes
Now this is going to be controversial, but here we go...
Quests will not be affected by double XP bombs anymore, or any XP item. HOWEVER, we've also up to doubled a lot of quest XP, especially in the late levels. We just don't want you guys to feel like you've wasted a quest when you aren't using an XP bomb or your XP set. We want you to enjoy quests without worrying about all that.

New way to get good XP
In this update, quests won't be the only good way to get XP anymore, so don't be scared about the changes! I'll say more about that next time.



So that's it for this changeblog! There's so many little changes we've done that I can't even hope writing them all down. They'll be a surprise when the update drops! I did also purposefully avoided talking about bigger ones (admins need to have some fun too, right?). You'll see them in game!
