Share your work and check out other artists' techniques, sketches, etc...
Experiment and practise is the most recommended thing, at least by me (specially if you don't have an art class near where you live) and establish your OWN style.
You can use pics and references and/or take art classes.
And about sites... the only ones I usually check out are Deviant Art, Youtube and a bit Tumblr.

I'm sorry if I got you unsatisfied with what I said but I'm not very good at giving tips about this kind of stuff... ^^'
