Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"If you need to, we'll leave the Wild Islands immediately. Let's go there."
I fly into the air and start going north-east.

 

Keila follows behind you, the storm barrier slowly brewing as she flies.

 

"Interesting. It seems that battles with them are more of battles of stamina rather than power. Which ever fighter can outlast the other one." HH says, closing the book and picking up another one.

"Quite so. Once you've been to so many, it puts great stress upon your mind remembering everything from each realm; the creatures there, their culture and language, customs, and all the rest."

 

All of them pretty much say the same thing.

 

After a while, we reach a ring of six islands.
"These are the Wild Islnads. The Wind Dragons come from the frosty island in the east."
Keila can see a large storm over a frosty island on the other side of the ring of islands.

"I see your point. Sometimes we can't remember everything that has happened in this forest alone."

 

HH goes to a random section and pulls out a book.

"Indeed." I reply, "So tell me, do you know anything else of interest in this island?"

 

She moves towards the storm.
"I didn't think they were affected by storms..."

It's... in a glyph-based language you can't comprehend. There are pictures of maps with sketches on them, most likely battle plans or a strategy book.

 

"There are plenty of interesting places! They're just hidden all over the forest. As for the whole island, there are ruins to the south-west."

"Storms usually follow them around. They create wind, but lightning is attracted to them... probably because they are literally a flying chunk of metal."
The air around the island feels very cold, as you would expect.
Keila can hear the metallic sounds of Wind Dragons coming from below.

 

"So what's wrong with this storm?"
Keila dives down lower.

 

"Yes?" Artemis responds happily.

 

HH puts it back and pulls out another book.

"Ruins? Ah, and have you any idea on what those might be ruins of?"

 

Whatever section this is, it's still not in a language you understand. There aren't any pictures or diagrams to make a decent guess of what type of book it is.

 

HH heads off to another section and gets a book out of there.

 

Back to the common language.

It seems to be a bestiary regarding wild creatures from many worlds. After reading a little closer, every name starts with 'M.' The rest of the set is still on the shelf, in alphabetical order.

 

HH looks through it for the most eye catching creature.

 

The "Magani Nox" looks particularly... disgusting. Apparenly it assimilates parts of its victims into its own body.

 

"I don't know. The storms created around them aren't usually this large."
As she flies lower, Keila starts to enter a blizzard seemingly created by the storm. However, she can make out shapes below her, which seem to be Wind Dragons.

"W-where am I? The cat dragged me into the forest and disappeared..."

"They are the ruins of Matu, the city Daras and his people created."

 

Keila tries to bend the storms to get rid of some of the snow in the blizzard, moving closer to the wind dragons.

 

"Eugh." HH comments, taking another book.

"I see. Perhaps you can give me some general directions on how to get there?"

 

You accidentally grab another one in the set of beastiaries. It seems they also have basic info on more harmless creatures such as various types of birds.
