Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"True, we still need one for your wound. Say, didn't you tell me you could use magic well? Could you heal yourself?" I say.

 

"My healing magic is rather weak. After the physical damage was repaired, I can recover from blood loss, but other than that, I can only really heal tiny cuts and bruises."

 

"Alright." I say. "After we find a magical healer, he should be able to get your brother. So, what now?"

 

"I still think we should get a foothold in society somewhere. Just, get a house, a job, start to fit in a bit. We're practically nomads as it stands."

 

"After I find you a good place to stay, I'll be going to the desert anyways. I'm going to get revenge on the thrice-dammed chief who massacred my tribe. I'll try to find your brother there as well, but I only see two endings. Either all of my enemies bleed, or I die in my homeland. I don't expect you to come with me, but before I die, I'll try and get your brother to safety."

 

"I... don't want to understand humans. I guess I'll just have to put my trust in you and hope things wind up for the better."

 

"Humans have never been peaceful. Revenge is in our nature. Either outcome, I'll be at peace with myself. If I die, at least I tried."

 

"I commend your honesty, but I'd hope there was a better way, or at least an easier way."

 

"Do you have any better options? I had my whole life taken from me. I spent decades in the desert, living a normal life, leading my tribe. It was mostly peaceful, with an occasional raid here and there, but everything was stable. It's only right that I destroy their home too. After that, I'll be able to find peace within myself."

 

"I know nothing better, but I do want to warn you, the same blood for blood mentality destroyed my homeworld."

 

"Civil war?" I ask.

 

"In a sense. We no longer have an intact planet because of it. Hell, I bet it's all gone at this point."

 

"You've told me." I say. "I don't intend to use any magic, just spill some blood and end some lives."

 

"Oh... right. Still, I'd think you'd need magic to pull something of this scale off. You'd die before you even got close to where your tribe had settled if you go alone!"

 

"Not before I take a few of them down." I say. "Besides, I'll challenge him to a fair trial by combat. If I challenged him, he's basically forced to fight me. If he kills me, he would have made an example of me, and it would gain him glory and respect, but if I killed him, I'd be able to walk away freely. He could, of course, have me executed, but his tribe would frown upon it, calling him too weak to kill one man."

 

"They ambushed you, lied to you, and tore your tribe apart. Do you really think they're going to play fair?"

 

"That's the best option. I suppose I could pick him off with my crossbow. There aren't many hiding spots in the desert, but I'm not too bad at stealth. I'd rather look him in the face as he bleeds, but sniping him from a distance would work too.

 

"You're going and putting up the storm barrier at the same time? Wouldn't that drain your energy a lot?"

"Have you been to many realms?"

Yver tries to use its telepathic link with Artemis. "Hello?"

 

"Satisfaction means nothing if it never comes. You can always mutilate the corpse, that's a traditional taunt in our society."

"It would, but I'm hoping it won't take exceedingly long."

 

"Well, I'll do all that once you're safe on the island. It sounds like you've had a pretty rough time." I start setting up a camp, using grass to make makeshift mattresses.
