The Fruma part of the this thread is pretty unnecessary, because we have absolutely no idea what Fruma will be about. For now we can only assume, and I don't think time is gonna be it. As for the desolation, I think it was just put as a seed name for lack of another name.

As for the Dern thing I do not think it implies that Dern must be adjacent to the dead island. If my theory that the decay is darkness is correct, then the parasite worm thing must have come from Dern. However we know Dern is not adjacent to Gavel, so the worm must have travelled through non-dark territory to infect Gavel. Same for Dead Island, I think Dern by no means has to be near it.

 

Weither its adjacent to dead island or not really does not matter, as long as Dern touches the ocean. As for the worm, there has been some debate about if it exploded out of the ground or fell from the sky.

And about Fruma, it's totally nessesary. The initial part of the thread was my theory on the province locations and shapes, and Fruma is legit half of that!

In Old Wynn (map), Gavel was blocked off from the Ocean with a similar mountain border that Fruma has (or at least, where it's theorized to be).

What if when Fruma is released, that mountain border is torn down into a port town similar to Gavel (perhaps two or three new islands as-well), allowing the man who was escaping Gavel to reach Fruma without crossing the Ocean and Wynn?

This of course would make your location of Fruma wrong but it's nice food for thought.

 

So in-game, theoretically, Dern will be where you said it will be, but in the lore and the story, Dern will be somewhere faraway or just not part of the same overworld?

 

I never said that. Dern being a "far off dark land" may not actually have anything to do with its location, but with how it is viewed (destroyed and lost and forgotten)

That actually is a possibility I overlooked. But that would not change anything about Fruma's location, it would just make it not nessesary to touch Gavel
