Mod's Rules?

So, this is a more out of the blue question, though it does have a few ties to it related to events.

I was just sort of curious what the rules are that a Mod has to follow, like, I know that the Builders and GMs aren't allowed to post an image of say, Gavel before Gavel got released or teased. I was wondering if there was rules like this that mods follow, or if it's a more 'Just ban hackers and stop spambots' kind of deal.

It'd be appreciated if a mod could answer, since they're a mod, but if someone could just give me a rundown of their rules I'd appreciate it.

Mods are basically exempt from rules until people start ganging up on them.

 

Really? So mods can do as they please?

So their ruling is 'Ban hackers, stop spam bots, don't annoy people?'

I guess that sort of explains the Mod Squad shenanigans, but it doesn't make sense that mods could just run loose and do whatever they want; because they could end up doing something terrible.

 

abusing power is a no no (as @BlahBlah161616 learned) also they need to be active and watch their mod points.

 

My guess:

1. Don't abuse powers

2. Try and be on your best behavior during certain situations like flame wars

3. Don't be an asshole towards other people, you're a mod, you're supposed to demonstrate an example of maturity within the community, along with that, don't participate in flame wars, stop them before it spreads more chaos

4. Obey the cow at all times

Mod points? Are they special points gained when a mod bans a hacker, and the system checks it to make sure they're a hacker?

"You banned a hacker in 2 minutes of them hacking! (+153 Points!)"

That would make sense, especially from what I've seen other mods doing. I figured being mature as a mod was sort of a given, though; you can't go around shouting 'PHALLUS' on servers and expect to be treated as a serious mod.

 

I'm willing to bet that all the rules in the rule thread apply to mods as well.

Its pretty insulting to say we can do "whatever we please". I cant really tell if your kidding or serious @flubby/yuno.

We follow every rule set in the rules thread as well as more set by grian.

Using 1 moderators actions against the entire team is upsetting and deeply disrespectful.

To intsererr, using your unhappiness about not being unbanned to insult and take cheap shots at mods both here and in the shoutbox is unacceptable.

 

Are the rules set by Grian private? I was just sort of curious.

Not sure if aimed at me, but I'm not using a mods actions to attack the team, nor do I plan to. I'm just sort of curious; especially with some longer term mods getting demoted recently.

 

Like what ganny said, We have to follow all the rules that a normal player would plus the rules mod have.
