How did the item change from a chestplate to a pair of pants though? Is that somehow symbolizing the transition between the two current provinces? Or were there just not enough high-leveled unique legs.

 

Don't think they're supposed to be the same item, I think the name and IDs are more about the symbolism behind it.

 

Actually this is what happened: Due to the Villager's greed, the Succoru parasites invaded the Realm of Light, feeding off of the the Light (in the Realm of Light, and the Light Beast). This lead to corruption (because the Succoru parasites represent dark, and the Realm of Light/the Light Beast represents light). This corruption spawned the worm, which spread decay over the province of Gavel.
"When the greed in Gavel began to take over and connection between the province and the realm, the darkness broke through into the Realm of Light and began spreading corruption, in the form of the Succoru parasites. As the realm became corrupted, the darkness spread into Gavel in the form of the decay."
While this information may be flawed (it was from the wiki) NOWHERE does it say that the Worm was spawned by the Eye.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

 

This was many months ago when Wynnexcavation Sites C and D were released. In the quest Wynnexcavation Site D, when you're in the Ancient City, there is a house off the path with a button that leads to a huge secret. It has many rooms with some of the cells having buttons to open up other secrets. They talk about the ancient people who came from Dern to escape some sort of "Eye," but were soon found. There is a secret room that has a mural of an eye. And who does the Wynnexcavation look up to as a divine entity in Site C? The Eye. And what other "Eye" could it be than the Eye of Dern? The Eye of Dern is the embodiment of Darkness. Just like the Light Beast is the embodiment of Light in Gavel. DOn't you think the Eye of Dern had something up its sleeve to kill the Light once and for all?

You probably haven't played the Realm of Light quest or you didn't look into the dialogue enough.

 

i did do the quest and i always read the dialog are you talking about that guy who got curropt and is now a part of a future dungeon ?

Anyways, we know it's the Eye of Dern.. and Dern is supposed to represent Darkness (the nether is representing corruption, and the realm of light is obviously light [and apparently I'm too lazy to capitalize now xD]) unless Grian/Salted says otherwise.
Also, It seems like from the signs, that the Ancients have.. harnessed some sort of power that... "corrupted" them (in quotes, it's not specifically corruption, that's just the best word to use). Also, it seems like the Ancients are scared of the Eye of Dern..
Also something I've been wondering: If the Eye of Dern is a bad thing, why does Bob have the eye plastered on every surface in the real tomb?

Well, at the end you talk to Gaclux, and he says that Orphon is the light beast (Heliorion says the Orphon is the light beast srry) and that they sealed Orphon away.

And that's why it couldn't do that.

Because that would be breaking the laws of the world.

The Eye cannot directly interfere with the Light realm as it is Pure Good and Light.
The parasites formed in the Light Realm due to the nature of the Gavel Province influencing the Light Realm with greed and power, anything you claim to know beyond that is pure speculation.

There is NOTHING in the signs at the WE Site D suggesting The Eye is responsible for the parasites.

 

Because Bob was never defeated by the Corrupter of Worlds, as people are led to believe. In a secret note that is rarely found when you're at a Relic, Bob writes to Nilrem that he learned about the war between Light and Dark and traveled to Dern to use his life force to imprison the Eye of Dern. But it will probably not last long as you can see from the dialogue in Memory Paranoia when Mr. Caritat tore his wife's heart out and set the mansion on fire.

Yes, I am talking about the future dungeon in the Realm of Light.

I was just giving backstory on the Eye of Dern. The last part of my statement, however, is proving to Poiu that the Eye of Dern has had enough of the war and is trying to kill the Light in any way that it can think of. That includes sneaking a dark parasite into the Realm of Light.

Like I said, the Eye of Dern will do anything to kill the Light. It doesn't have to even touch the Light in order to do it.

 

The war between light and dark will never end. After all, without light, darkness can't exist and without darkness, light can't exist

 

Isn't Bob's mother from dern or something tho (Based on pre-wipe lore)? That would explain it.

Also, yes, the only thing feasible that Bob could've fallen to is the Eye (though he was defeated by CoW, he didn't die). Looking at the dialogue for Memory Paranoia again, yes - it seems like Mr. Caritat is talking about the.. well you know what I mean. It also seems as if he's talking about the Realm of Light - "BREAK THROUGH THE REALMS" But to me his weird possessed spiel brings more questions: Is he talking about the darkness or the Eye? Who is "he"? If Mr. Caritat is talking about the Eye, that speech implies that 1) the eye is an actual, physical being, and that 2) the eye is male... So that doesn't really fit in.. unless you look at the Eye more, and from the lore and the various threads about the Eye you can infer that the Eye is a beast of some sort - most likely the "Dark Beast" (because there is a light beast as well). Also, @Kpar is right - darkness cannot exist without light, and vice versa. There will be alternating times of advantage for both sides, though I cannot imagine one destroying the other (though they have tried - or at least darkness has tried). Also, what's happening to the dark realm? If there is a light realm, then there must be a dark realm - Whether it be Dern, or some other place.

Also, Mr. Caritat says that this.. thing.. will corrupt the world - why not turn it into darkness?

 

I don't know why I'm getting mindfucks from reading all these theories and speculations on this thread.

 

and all of these started becoz I hv a word "decay" on my thread, which I just used it for dramatic reason and the whole thing shouldn't even be related to lore or sth :/
